Government Affairs/PAC Manager


What you will do

In this vital role you will be responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of a strategic fundraising program to increase participation in the Amgen PAC. A successful fundraising program will include virtual, digital, and live components—such as directly soliciting staff for contributions via oral presentations and written communications. The person hired for this job will be responsible for establishment of a comprehensive, internal communication program for PAC eligible staff and PAC members (including website improvements); oversight of the PAC budget; management of the PAC-Match Gift program; engagement with the PAC Board (comprised of senior executives) and extensive PAC/political research. Amgen has a strong culture for ethics and compliance—the successful candidate will be accountable for conducting PAC work ethically and compliantly.

Successful PAC oversight includes close collaboration with internal and external collaborators and the ability to nimbly advance complex initiatives that require cross-functional reviews, executive engagement, and support. Additional skills required include:

  • Demonstrated ability to increase PAC revenue and membership

  • Understanding of the federal and state legislative/policy landscapes

  • Familiarity with PAC fundraising in a virtual or hybrid world

  • Comfort level collaborating with senior Amgen executives

  • Great teammate/willingness to work across teams and functions to build enduring relationships

  • At times, significant travel may be required

  • Ethical and compliant behavior

Reports to: Director, Global Government Affairs & Policy

Location: Washington, D.C. or Thousand Oaks, CA


What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree


Master’s degree and 2 years of direct experience fundraising for a corporate or trade association political action committee (PAC)


Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of direct experience fundraising for a corporate or trade association political action committee (PAC)


Associate’s degree and 10 years of direct experience fundraising for a corporate or trade association political action committee (PAC)


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of direct experience fundraising for a corporate or trade association political action committee (PAC)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience soliciting PAC funds via virtual meetings and/or hybrid office environments

  • Strong political savvy; knowledge of the electoral process

  • Familiarity with FEC rules and regulations
