In this vital role you will primarily focus on aligning data management workflows, implementing standardized data lake solutions, and streamlining data operations for Global Research. Additionally, it will involve identifying and prioritizing requirements, managing team workload, and ensuring the integration of systems. This role also serves as a liaison for Enterprise Engineering and Analytics (EEA), internal and external business partners to ensure governance, alignment and consistency in Amgen Research Foundational Data Systems.
Responsibilities:
Function as a Product Owner for Research Data and Analytics within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) product team
Serve as a liaison between global DTI functional areas and global research scientists, prioritizing their needs and expectations
Manage a suite of custom internal platforms, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, and systems integrations
Translate complex scientific and technological needs into clear, actionable requirements for development teams
Develop and maintain a product roadmap that clearly outlines the planned features and enhancements, timelines, and milestones
Identify and manage risks associated with the systems, including technological risks, scientific validation, and user acceptance
Develop documentations, communication plans and training plans for end users
Ensure scientific data operations are scoped into building Research-wide Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning capabilities
Ensure operational excellence, cybersecurity and compliance.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience
Preferred Qualifications:
BS, MS or PhD in life sciences, computer science or engineering
3+ years of experience in implementing and supporting biopharma research data models and data collection systems
Familiarity with data architectures and concepts such as semantic data models, graph databases, relational databases
Familiarity with controlled vocabulary, ontology, data curation and FAIR principles (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reusability)
Demonstrated expertise in a scientific domain area and related technology needs
Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex challenges in drug discovery with data
Understanding of scientific data strategy, data governance, data infrastructure
Familiarity with one or more agile software development methodologies
Collaborative spirit and effective communication skills to work seamlessly in a cross-functional team
An ongoing commitment to learning and staying at the forefront of AI/ML advancements.
Skills:
Experience with cloud (e.g. AWS) and on-premise compute infrastructure
Experience with stakeholder management, managing a team of 20, ensuring seamless coordination across teams and driving the successful delivery of technical projects
Familiarity with data analytics and scientific computing platforms such as Databricks, Dash, Plotly, Spotfire and related programming languages like SQL, python
Experience creating impactful slide decks and communicating data
Ability to drive projects/company initiatives using Agile methodology
