Business Performance Manager-Portfolio Analytics
What you will do

In this vital role you will be supporting informed decision-making at the portfolio level through advanced analytics, modeling, and portfolio performance initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Director, Portfolio Analytics, the Manager will manage operational data analytics for portfolio insights, develop and enhance analytic tools, and support governance processes that shape strategic direction for the company.
Responsibilities
Manages end-to-end tracking and maintenance of R&D portfolio data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and availability for analytics and decision support across teams and governance
Supports the assessment of the research portfolio by identifying opportunities and prioritizing projects that align with both long-term research objectives and Amgen’s strategic goals
Contributes to risk assessment initiatives with Product Teams, facilitates the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of risks (e.g. PTRS), and guiding discussions to develop mitigation strategies for optimized portfolio resilience
Conducts portfolio scenario analyses, modeling, and analytical support to inform decision-making, designing models that reveal trade-offs and impacts of strategic options to ensure alignment with corporate objectives
Collaborates with technology teams to develops and maintains dashboards, enabling easy access to portfolio insights and fostering data-driven decision-making
Benchmarks Amgen’s portfolio against industry, defining and tracking performance metrics to identify areas for competitive improvement and ensuring portfolio progress aligns with strategic goals
Leads strategic portfolio analytics for Governance and Portfolio Review meetings, ensuring that executive decisions are well-informed
Develops new innovative analytic and statistical approaches, tools, and drives continuous improvement for Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and to improve R&D decision-making capabilities

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate
or
Master’s degree & 2 years of portfolio management or analytics experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree & 4 years of portfolio management or analytics experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 8 years of portfolio management or analytics experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of technology experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong project and program management skills with experience in managing portfolio data and enabling analytics for strategic oversight, ideally within a healthcare or pharmaceutical environment
Experience in portfolio management/analytics or financial modeling within the biopharmaceutical or healthcare industry
Experience in driving Decision Analysis process
Experience in benchmarking and performance management, demonstrating the ability to set competitive performance metrics and conduct industry-standard evaluations to inform portfolio strategy
Skilled in preparing and presenting insights for executive stakeholders
Experience with data and portfolio analysis tools, including advanced Excel, statistical software (e.g. Lumivero @Risk Platform), Planview Advisor, or Captario SUM
Innovative thinker with strategic problem-solving ability
Emotional intelligence and influence skills for navigating and collaborating with cross-functional teams

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
