Data & Analytic Center:

The DAC within CfOR has expertise on real-world data (RWD) and provides analytics on the frequency and distribution of disease, the natural history of disease, the design of clinical trials, cost and utilisation patterns and the safety and effectiveness of interventions. ​

Your role overview:

The role will involve working with epidemiologists to set up analysis plans for ad-hoc studies, programming in SAS/Python/R/SQL and reviewing programming output. An important part of the role includes coordinating the activities of a small team of statistical programmers to achieve the team goals and to ensure projects are delivered accurately within timelines. In addition, the Statistical Programming Manager is responsible for staying informed of evolving department needs and industry best practices, looking to identify innovative, impactful proposals to increase efficiency, and support the organisation’s growth strategies.

Your responsibilities:

  • You will manage the Therapeutic Area’s statistical programming team so work is delivered on time and to specifications

  • Identify potential efficiency improvements and propose solutions

  • Ensure the analysis and presentation of biomedical data is accurate and complete

  • Adherence to Amgen policies, SOPs and other controlled documents

  • Write, test and validate software programs to produce analysis datasets and presentation output, to be included in reports for submission to regulatory agencies, publications and other communications

  • Review and approve key study-related documents produced by other functions, e.g. SAPs, CRF, Data Management Plan, etc.

  • Write and/or review and approve programming plans

  • Write and/or review and approve analysis dataset specifications

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of programming, CfOR, and Research and Development (R&D)

  • Participate in the development and review of CfOR Policies, SOPs and other controlled documents

  • Actively participate in external professional organizations, conferences and/or meetings

  • Support and mentor junior programmers

  • Manage the European CfOR student programmer program

Your qualifications and required experience:

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other subject with high statistical content, combined with extensive direct related experience.

  • Database programming using SAS/Python/R/SQL or experience with advanced statistical methods, such as survival analysis or regression models.

  • Experience with real world healthcare data, such as CPRD or other EMR databases.

Preferred experience and skills

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated environment.

  • Training or experience using the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) common data model.

  • Training or experience with the AWS database platform and Spark SQL.

  • Computer programming with SAS, R, Python or other procedural languages.

  • Understanding of computer operating systems, including cloud-based (AWS), Databricks and UNIX.

  • Technical excellence.

  • Project management experience.
