KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Vice President, Chief Security Officer at Amgen is part of the Human Resources leadership team and reports to the EVP, Human Resources. The role is responsible for developing and executing exceptional Security strategy for assets and staff with Global oversight of Amgen facilities. The expectation of this position is to provide leadership, oversight and expertise in matters related to the protection of staff, facilities and corporate brand. Leads a global team to assure quality, consistency, and efficiency of security processes for operations/infrastructure, prevention and crisis response inclusive of facilities and staff safety

  • Collaborates with Amgen’s Crisis Management teams to advise and ensure seamless process implementation as well as appropriate responses to both minor and major crisis

  • Leads the Threat Management team and develops an intelligence-based threat assessment process to support Amgen’s global sites and operations

  • Leads the Security Investigations team to ensure compliance and safety

  • Represents and liaises with local, state, and federal law enforcement, intelligence agencies and other related government agencies

  • Leads senior executive protection team

  • Builds and maintains a network of security vendors, resources, and consultants to augment existing capabilities and use these resources when appropriate

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate degree & 8 years of corporate or private security, intelligence agency or law enforcement experience OR

  • Master’s degree & 10 years of corporate or private security, intelligence agency or law enforcement experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of corporate or private security, intelligence agency or law enforcement experience AND

  • 8 years of direct managerial experience. Previous experience managing other managers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 10 years of private security experience with at least 5 years at the leadership level OR a minimum of 10 years of Federal, State or Local law enforcement experience at the leadership level

  • Experience developing security strategies in a private industry environment

  • Experience with criminal investigations with a clear understanding of the investigative process and managing threats to persons and/or organizations

  • Experience planning and managing security for large events, budget development and management

  • Executive leadership skills operating in a diverse and highly collaborative environment

  • Possesses the knowledge, skills and ability to understand the current threat environment and conducts meaningful threat assessments

  • Maintains collaborative and productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to lead and influence in a global matrix organization

  • Experience working on personal protection strategies and tactics for senior executives

  • Maintains confidentiality with highest standards of ethics, compliance and respectful leadership style
