Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this internship, you will have the opportunity to work on your own project and learn from a talented team of scientists at our Thousand Oaks, CA research site. You will join the Biologics Optimization Protein Chemistry group to help us overcome the challenges of developing next generation therapeutics. Your contributions will enable us to apply our large datasets to advance the development of machine learning based predictive tools, and improve the speed and quality of lead selection.

In this role you will develop high quality, accurate, and comprehensive training data sets; analyze large datasets to identify trends to enable building ML based predictive tools and provide valuable feedback for continuous improvement of our data pipeline and models.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a undergrad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree concentration(s) in: Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science

  • Familiarity with modern scripting languages (such as Python and R)

  • Highly motivated, detailed oriented, independent, and eager to broaden their data analysis skills

  • Strong ability to independently analyze data and synthesize key results

  • Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint
