Amgen Talent Scout Manager in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is hiring a Talent Scout Manager to create, develop and lead a team focused on delivering future internal and external talent for key roles. The Talent Scout Manager will report to the Head of Talent Acquisition and play a principal role in developing and executing the overall talent scout strategy for all functions at Amgen. In partnership with Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Human Resource Business Partners, and Talent Acquisition leaders, the Talent Scout Manager will gain business insights to create and recommend a talent scouting plan based on information obtained through succession and hiring plans, competitive intelligence and industry trends. In addition, the Talent Scout Manager will focus on diversity scouting plans and influence hiring teams. This position will be highly visible and interact with senior leaders of all functions.


  • Build a highly skilled talent scout team and structure

  • Develop and maintain metrics to measure the team's success and return on investment

  • Serve as the internal expert and coach the team on sourcing/scouting strategies and best practices

  • Ensure sourcing tools and techniques are being used properly and consistently amongst the team

  • Facilitate training, evaluation & development to foster growth in direct reports competencies as well as enhancing passive candidates sourcing tools

  • Leverage data and analytics to provide market insights to business leaders

  • Stay up to date on latest industry trends and news, and technology

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree


Master's degree and 2 years of Talent Acquisition experience


Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Talent Acquisition experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of Talent Acquisition experience


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Talent Acquisition experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience in a sourcing or scouting role

  • 3+ years' experience managing team

  • Experience in talent acquisition and workforce planning models

  • Bio/Pharma Industry Knowledge

  • Experience with designing, implementing, and promoting a creative new process

  • Strong decision-making skills and demonstrated ability to influence leaders in the organization

  • Excellent creativity in terms of both strategic solutions and tactical ideas

  • Ability to manage multiple time critical projects simultaneously and accommodate shifting priorities

  • High degree of flexibility, self-motivation and drive

  • Strong analytical skills and high level of comfort using data/metrics
