Amgen Supply Chain Manager in Thousand Oaks, California

The Supply Chain Manager is a member of the Global Supply Chain Controls and Compliance Organization. This position will work with Import/Export staff in the Supply Hubs and Global Trade Compliance (GTC) in Worldwide Compliance and Business Ethics. This manager will be responsible for ensuring execution processes align with policies set by GTC and enable continuous process improvement to advance compliance and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide business process ownership of global processes related to import/export execution.

  • Oversight of broker management program

  • Ensuring audit program is executed as required per GTC policy

  • Interface across functions including Supply Chain Hubs, Global Trade Compliance, Legal, External parties (i.e. brokers), etc.

  • Implement process improvements to address changes in policy, regulatory requirements, and improve efficiency

  • Actively participates across teams, network and learning groups to share information, to improve the cross functional processes and to anticipate issues

  • Own systems related to processes in Import/Export

  • Proactively identifies and supports Operational Excellence initiatives including analysis of data and processes, assessments, business case development and pilot improvements where appropriate. This includes developing requirements, identify improvements, understand budget needs, and building business cases to implement improvements.

  • Support Governance for Trade Compliance, Security and Traceability

  • SME member in global cross-functional projects

  • Develop training and facilitate delivery of training

  • Works with Digital Supply Chain and IS to translate business requirements into system requirements

  • Responsible for critical metrics reporting

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree and 2 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or Trade Compliance experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or Trade Compliance experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or Trade Compliance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or Trade Compliance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication capabilities and must be comfortable and confident dealing with all levels of management within the organization.

  • Proven understanding of import/export principles and logistics

  • Detail oriented with strong business analytical skills and company-wide knowledge

  • Process oriented attitude with willingness to call out gaps and seek solutions

  • Perseverance and independent problem-solving skills

  • Advanced capabilities with data analytics with tools such as Excel, Tableau, Spotfire, etc. Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations/problems using multiple sources of information.

  • Ability to lead change and ensure change management

  • Basic project management skills including developing project plan, understanding budget needs, reporting out progress, and escalation of issues​

  • Ability to develop innovative and creative output based in interpretation and analysis

  • Ability to independently develop solutions that are detailed, practical and consistent with functional objectives

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and high personal integrity
