Amgen Strategic Resource Planning Manager in Thousand Oaks, California

The Strategic Resource Planning Manager serves as an analyst supporting a portfolio of cross functional strategic projects. Operations Strategic Planning and Risk (OSPR) is the internal management consulting arm of Operations, which delivers significant value to a diverse set of internal leaders. The Strategic Resource Planning Manager will be an integral member of a high performing team chartered to deliver comprehensive analytics that support unbiased network recommendations to capture value for Operations. Lead evaluations that impact Amgen's Operations network.


  • Support advancing Operations strategy for optimization of the commercial product supply network (across drug-substance, drug-product, device assembly/packaging and distribution), while contributing to advancement of Amgen's innovative molecules and biosimilar product pipeline.

  • Develop cross-functional business cases for key manufacturing process areas and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Conduct analysis of site selections, network optimization and risk analyses, risk quantification, capacity evaluations, scenarios, and business development due-diligence.

  • Align with cross-functional stakeholders on operational, financial and regulatory assumptions (quality/compliance, costs, capacity, inventory, risk) that impact performance of the supply network.

  • Develop analytical and risk assessment tools and processes.

  • Develop recommendations, driving decisions, and delivering presentations to the Senior Operations Leadership.

  • Perform fully integrated analysis for broader assessments at direction of senior OSP leaders.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Doctorate degree


  • Master's degree and 2 years of engineering, business management, or life sciences experience


  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of engineering, business management, or life sciences experience


  • Associates' degree and 10 years of engineering, business management, or life sciences experience


  • High School Diploma/GED and 12 years of engineering, business management, or life sciences experience

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor degree in engineering, business management or life sciences

  • 3+ years of experience in Operations or Life sciences

  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative skills including financial analysis, risk assessments and product lifecycle management

  • Strong business and financial acumen, high-level strategic thinking and robust analytical skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Ability to use work process, briefing and spreadsheet software as well as statistical analysis software

  • Ability to operate in a matrixed or team environment with site, divisional, and corporate executive leadership

  • Knowledge of drug development, manufacturing processes and end-to-end supply chain
