Amgen Strategic Planning & Operations Manager in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking a Strategic Planning & Operations Manager at its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA to join the Drug Product Technologies (DPT) organization. This individual will report to the head of the DPT Business Planning function.

This role will work with the organization to manage the DPT resource forecast and capacity management process. This will include development and refinement of resource models, management of short and long-term resource forecasts, recommend resource allocations based upon future demand as well as analyzing key operational data to support trade-off and portfolio decisions. This position is responsible to stay informed of best practices, technologies, tools and provide innovative, impactful ideas to optimize processes to support the organization's growth strategies. The role may also track and analyze data on budgets, cycle times and activity analysis and develop organizational modeling parameters to enable efficient decision making and planning. The role will track and follow through on strategic and business actions, conduct business analysis projects, including developing real-time visual management tools as part of our continual improvement efforts.

Responsibilities Include:

*Own and drive sophisticated data analysis initiatives that will generate impactful and actionable insights, e.g. resource and portfolio planning, provide strategic input based on data

*Lead advanced descriptive and inferential analyses of data to identify trends and opportunities, e.g. scenario analysis and planning

*Develop and maintain predictive models using data mining and statistical methods to provide insights

*Provide executive level presentations that clearly summarize analytical results and implications/recommendations to key stakeholders to inform decision making

*Turn unstructured business issues/requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result in high quality, meaningful and actionable deliverables

*Own, build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders; proactively seek buy-in and provide on-going collaboration and consultation to inform how best to address business needs

*Drive strategy making and decision making in all areas of focus

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of data science and/or project management and/or business/operations experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of data science and/or project management and/or business/operations experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of data science and/or project management and/or business/operations experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of data science and/or project management and/or business/operations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

*Master's Degree in business, engineering or life sciences, 5+ years directly relevant experience

*Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically to support key business decisions

*Excellent organizational skills and a superior attention to detail

*Experience and understanding of cross-functional Drug Product Commercialization Process including formulation/process development, technology transfer, process characterization, fill/finish process development, and regulatory authoring for pipeline and lifecycle management projects

*Experience in project planning, change management execution, implementation, monitoring, completion and follow-up

*Strong oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences

*Proficient facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving, change management skills and ability to apply operational excellence methodologies

*Advanced knowledge of Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word; working knowledge of business intelligence and predictive modeling tools, such as Tableau and Spotfire

*Ability to develop visual data analysis reports and tools to drive decision making

*Superior ability to work in a self-directed manner while balancing a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands

*Project a positive, 'can do' attitude and eagerly contribute to all initiatives as needed and requested

*Experience and understanding of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry

*Strong analytical skills-ability to translate disparate and sometimes ambiguous data sets into actionable insights and recommendations
