Amgen Strategic Planning & Operations Manager in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking a Strategic Planning & Operations Manager at its office in Thousand Oaks, CA to join the Device & Final Drug Product Technologies (D&FDPT) organization. This individual will report to the head of the Device Strategic Planning & Operations function.

This role will support the D&FDPT organization by overseeing budget management and forecasting, managing strategic initiatives, performing advanced data analysis and overseeing critical internal/external partnerships. The Manager is responsible to stay informed of best practices and provide innovative, impactful ideas to optimize processes to support the organization's growth strategies.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with project and department leaders to forecast quarterly budgets based on strategic priorities

  • Collaborate with project and department leaders to manage budgets on an on-going basis

  • Work with senior management and key stakeholders to develop annual budget for the new year

  • Create and execute all budget-related communications

  • Implement innovative and efficient process improvements as needed

  • Own and drive sophisticated data analysis initiatives that will generate impactful and actionable insights

  • Deploy 'best in class' project management on all initiatives including 'special projects' as needed

  • Provide regular reports, dashboards and presentations that clearly summarize results and implications/recommendations to key stakeholders to inform decision making

  • Turn unstructured business issues/requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result in high quality, meaningful and actionable deliverables

  • Own, build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders; proactively seek buy-in and provide on-going collaboration and consultation to inform how best to address business needs

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of business analytics or finance experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of business analytics or finance experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of business analytics or finance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of business analytics or finance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in business or finance, 5+ years directly relevant experience

  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Deep knowledge of cost accounting and budget management strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically to support key business decisions

  • Excellent analytical skills-ability to translate disparate and sometimes ambiguous data sets into actionable insights and recommendations

  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences

  • Proficient facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving and change management skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word; working knowledge of business intelligence and predictive modeling tools, such as SAS and Spotfire

  • Superior ability to work in a self-directed manner while balancing a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands
