The Supplier Relationship Excellence (SRE) lead represents Amgen and Operations as the single point of contact to our external supplier and is accountable for the overall business activities and deliverables including our strategic intent. Working closely with Operations functional leadership the SRE lead ensures the strategic direction and priorities are defined, and is accountable for achieving approved program goals and objectives as well as all aspects of effective team operations, including start-up, planning, and daily operations. In coordination with the Executive Sponsor, and appropriate Operations leadership, sets the strategy for the supplier engagement.
Scope of work includes development and ensuring clinical and commercial supply. The SRE lead must ensure Amgen benefits from an optimized commercialization plan that considers patient and commercial value, Operations strategy, and the capabilities of the supplier. This role requires networking across key Operations’ functions (Drug Delivery, Global Operations Planning, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality Management, Corporate Quality, Process Development, Engineering, Drug Product Manufacturing Sites, and Operations Risk Management), as well as the broader functions of Commercial, Finance, Global Strategic Sourcing, IS and Legal to ensure that all aspects are carefully considered. Additionally, the SRE lead represents Amgen Operations and acts as the key interface with Amgen’s external suppliers to improve quality, agility, efficiency and reliability while striving to reduce variability and assure ongoing continuous improvement.
Establishing strategic plan for supplier relationship
Partnering with supplier and team to establish objectives (including scope, schedule, & budget) for development, supply and continuous improvement
Regular meetings and communications with partner/Amgen team to progress the objectives
Collaboration with Amgen functional stakeholders and partner’s leadership to ensure alignment and success
Driving cross-functional communication and integration of information
Driving issue resolution
Removing barriers to decision-making, personnel, and budgets
Proactively identifying and mitigating risks
Managing contract compliance and IP
Identifying and on-boarding Amgen team members
Actively manage relationship with suppliers using the Supplier Relationship Excellence (SRE) framework
Relationship owner for Operations – maintain understanding of global activities at Amgen sites and external supplier(s) and act as primary point of contact for all supply issues.
Working closely with global Operations Leaders (GOLs), ensures that plans are aligned with product strategy and are consistent across products, where appropriate.
Identify key risks in the supply chain and drive mitigation strategies, in collaboration with Operations Strategic Planning and Risk Management (OSPR).
Ensure that external trends and drivers, historical decisions and key learnings are shared via appropriate knowledge management tools.
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience
Master's degree and 6 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience
7+ years of experience in the biotechnology/ pharmaceutical industry including leadership roles (e.g., team leadership or functional leadership roles) in key Operations functions (e.g., Supply Chain, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Device Engineering, Device Program Management.)
Advanced degree in Science or Engineering and/or MBA.
Additional diverse assignments in Operations support (Planning, Compliance, Engineering, etc.) and ex-Operations functions (Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development, Finance, etc.)
3+ years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership. Experience leading cross-functional teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.
Specific experience with raw materials, device and/or combination product development, manufacturing, and supply chain.
Proficient with device and/or pharmaceutical product commercialization and life cycle management.
Demonstrated experience leading and motivating diverse, cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of/experience with Supplier Relationship Management
