This Senior Associate is a key member of Strategic Pricing and Contracts, specifically within the Medicaid Rebates Team. The individual in this role will primarily process quarterly Medicaid invoices received from State Medicaid Agencies. The individual in this role will use software packages, Stratus (processing system), Excel and other analytic tools to set up and process payment packages, investigate discrepancies on State invoices, spot trends and analyze financial data. Additionally the person will work with a variety of people within the department and various State Medicaid office analysts to perform his/her job; and therefore to be successful will have strong skills in communication. This role will perform other ad-hoc analysis on the data and provide management with key deliverables. The role involves a lot of administrative, coordination, analytical and organizational skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree


  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of finance, contracts and/or project management experience


  • Associate’s degree and 6 years of finance, contracts and/or project management experience


  • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of finance, contracts and/or project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced degree a plus

6+ years’ experience in related field, including Finance, Contracts or Project Management

Internal Amgen experience or experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment

demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility

General knowledge of Medicaid reimbursement policies, Government Medicaid Programs, invoices and claims processing

Good analytical skills


  • Strong computer & M/S Office skills

  • Develops spreadsheet models for moderately complex financial analysis

  • Good verbal and written communication skills. May deliver formal presentations

  • Communicates effectively within and outside the department and with State Government Agencies

Problem Solving:

  • High attention to detail/reporting accuracy, while also able to focus on the overall problem / solution

  • Translates high volumes of data into meaningful information to support key business decisions

  • Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities


  • Completes projects timely and makes decisions with minimal direction and ability to assess prioritization and completion timeframes for multiple simultaneous assignments.

  • Self motivates and owns project from inception to completion and completes work with given guidelines and procedures

  • Thinks strategically (can see big picture) while delivering results at the appropriate level of detail

  • Tolerance of ambiguous situations


  • Strong presentation skills; can effectively articulate and influence meeting decisions with cross functional group attendees

  • Team player, supports team members as needed

  • Effectively represents team in a complex matrix organization with cross-functional groups within TPCM (Trade, Pricing, Contracts Management) and support functions

  • Strong project management skills and leads projects as required.

  • Provides analysis and recommendations to support decisions by team management

  • Perform other administrative functions and ad-hoc special projects as needed
