Amgen Specialist IS Business System Analyst in Thousand Oaks, California
Amgen is seeking a Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst to join our Research & Medical Informatics (RMI) organization. The Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Global Medical IS and will be based out of Amgen’s corporate headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. This role will focus on business engagement, understanding and detailing the processes and providing the system, data and analytics support for the key business capabilities globally.
The Global Medical IS team within R&MI supports platforms, technologies and applications for opinion leader relationship management and scientific exchange and evidence generation globally. Perform detailed business analysis of the processes / systems for the assigned business capability, that will serve as authoritative documentation and reference material on which to base tangible systems designs
Responsible for effectively eliciting IS requirements through working with various scientific teams, developing compelling business cases for IS investments, and leading IS implementation projects to deliver value for the Global Medical organization globally
Work across multiple IS services supporting Global Medical to develop IS solutions required to enable and further progress business capabilities
Use data design patterns and architectures to generate system designs
Handle internal and external vendors to ensure efficient delivery of the build and run services
Lead select IS/Informatics delivery projects as Project Manager
Working closely with the enterprise architects and platform teams to ensure that the applications are aligned with the overall architectural and development guidelines
Contributing to the exploration and understanding of new tools, and techniques and undertake proof of concepts
Act as a run manager, provide Run/DevOps support, assess risks and options to maintain and fix production issues
Own and handle product backlog delivery
Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant Information Systems experience
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant Information Systems experience
Associate’s degree and 10 years of relevant Information Systems experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of relevant Information Systems experience
Strong written and oral communication skills and technical expertise to be able to communicate effectively with business and technology partners
Solid experience in data analytics, visualization, database technologies, scientific process engineering, semantic technologies or deep learning
Strong SQL skills with an understanding of RDBMS, MPP, and HDFS databases and performance tuning experience related to reporting queries
Sound knowledge of large enterprise applications/platforms like Salesforce, Veeva, Anaplan, Tableau
Working knowledge of AWS technologies such as S3, Redshift, Spectrum, EMR, Spark, Athena
Working knowledge of data modeling principles and tuning of relational as well as NoSQL datastores (Oracle, Red-shift, Impala, HDFS/Hive, Athena, etc.)
Experience working with Agile development methodologies (such as Sprint and Scrum) and DevOps
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
2+ years of experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical industry
Strong examples of service delivery attitude with demonstrated ability to deliver complex solutions
Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams
Demonstrated ability to leverage enterprise and external shared services to deliver solutions
Strong examples of leadership, consulting, collaboration, project management
