Amgen Specialist Information Systems (IS) Business Systems Analyst in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking a Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst to be located in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Analyst will work within the Operations IS (OIS) group to support the Process Development business organization with a focus on Product Lifecycle Management. The Analyst will contribute to the success of Operations IS functions by making fundamental improvements in how information is managed, business processes are operated, physical processes are controlled, and work flow is directed to efficiently achieve the integration and orchestration of all activities required for product development and will attend strategic cross-functional meetings to facilitate the optimization of processes through implementation of solutions that enable enterprise-wide information knowledge management.

The Operations Information Systems team supports the Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Process Development functions to ensure they have the systems and processes necessary to supply lifesaving products to Amgen's Patients around the globe.


Actively engage with business users to analyze business needs, gather and document business and solution requirements around integrations with Data Sources

Work and collaborate with the IS Technical Architects in the Analytics & Knowledge Management division team and vendors to determine the best technical solutions for OIS

Research COTS tools and technologies to determine the best fit for Amgen's use cases in line with Amgen IS directive to move to cloud and use AWS solutions

Support the Data Integration initiatives and be the POC & Technical DME to drive integrations of one or more OIS systems with the EDL

Provide guidance to project teams on defining business needs, articulating solutions and approaches for addressing business needs, and presenting business cases for proposed solutions

Help define the system architecture and technical road maps that align current and future business needs with Amgen's Analytics & BI strategy

Lead the technical design, development, testing, implementation, and support of key projects and data visualization, dashboards & reporting using analytical software like Spotfire, Tableau

Prepare and maintain communication materials like roadmaps, position papers, presentations, demos, playbooks and socialize the materials with business clients and partner IS services

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree


Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience


Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Big 4 Consulting experience

4+ years of healthcare industry experience focused on analytics, business intelligence, reporting or data management

Able to successfully develop, launch, and manage product offerings for Analytics and Reporting

Experience managing the end-to-end delivery of complex projects

Experience with OSI Soft or other real-time data management systems

Hands-on experience with at-least two of the following technologies - Spotfire, Tableau, IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, IBM TM1, MicroStrategy

Experience with Reporting and Analytics - Spotfire / Tableau experience

Good overall understanding of business, manufacturing, and laboratory systems common in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the integration of these systems through applicable standards

Understanding of FDA regulations governing computer system validation and operation in biotech manufacturing and laboratory areas

Ability to translate the enterprise's aspirations for information sharing into the reality of detailed actions in the laboratory, quality, engineering, manufacturing, and IS organizations
