Senior Scientist, Cell Biologist

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be a part of the fast-paced, integrated and interactive Selection and Modality Engineering research group exploring therapeutics for several disease areas. You will be responsible for designing experiments and generating pharmacology data to support novel and innovative approaches to modulation of intractable targets in diseases using the emerging siRNA modality.

In this vital role you will have the opportunity to think independently and make major contributions to our extrahepatic RNAi effort. The candidate will be an integral part of our RNA-based therapeutics team, applying knowledge in cell biology and analytical skills to develop strategies for oligonucleotide delivery. The candidate will also build and lead a working team involving internal and external collaboration, to scale up and transition proof-of-concept efforts into preclinical project teams.

This role offers an enormous opportunity to conduct cutting-edge drug discovery research within a growing and science-driven organization. The candidate will work collaboratively with researchers across multiple functions in the Therapeutics Discovery organization and the disease therapeutic areas.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree & 4 years of scientific experience OR

Master’s degree & 7 years of scientific experience OR

Bachelor’s degree & 10 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or Molecular Biology

  • Track record of developing a range of cellular assays and molecular biological techniques to help characterize cell surface proteins, internalization and intracellular trafficking.

  • Experience with in vivo biology, techniques and project management.

  • Experience in a highly integrated industry environment is preferred.

  • Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Multi-color flow cytometry, mRNA isolation and quantification, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.

  • Experience setting up a cell biology laboratory.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to work in a flexible team-oriented environment.
