Amgen Senior Marketing Manager, OBU Value Strategy & Marketing in Thousand Oaks, California

In a dynamic healthcare environment, the Value Strategy & Marketing team is ready to meet the evolving needs of our payer and provider customers. This unique position will join a dynamic team focused on strengthening the payer and provider value proposition to better develop and drive messaging during key strategic value discussions with those responsible for the selection of medications for coverage or reimbursement.

The Senior Marketing Manager, OBU, Value Strategy & Marketing will support the development and execution of the value marketing strategy for the U.S. Oncology product portfolios. They will lead the development of tools/resources to communicate the disease burden, clinical efficacy and safety, and economic value messages to maintain or improve coverage with formulary decision-makers, and support value-based initiatives. Additionally, they will be the primary point of contact for the Oncology Key Account Manager (OKAM) team and Market Access (MA) Team members focused on key provider and integrated accounts. The Value team will work with OBU sales leadership, MA leadership, Global Health Economics, and other key stakeholders to support the value proposition of Amgen’s Oncology products.

Key Activities:

  • Develop and execute tools/resources to effectively communicate a product’s value proposition to maintain or improve coverage, support value-based initiatives, and deliver on value marketing strategy

  • Work cross functionally with the Coverage & Pricing (C&P) team, Global Health Economics (GHE), Center for Observational Research (CfOR), U.S. medical teams including medical communication and brand marketing on data generation and development of the U.S. Value Communication platform.

  • Work with third-party vendors to facilitate the internal legal, regulatory and medical review of marketing materials via the Materials Approval and Compliance (MAC)

  • Effectively rollout and train the Market Access team (field account executives) or Oncology Key Account Managers (OKAMs) on programs and resources and provide support to field staff to address questions.

  • Lead bi-weekly or monthly Value/Global Health Economics alignment meetings

  • Lead annual value summit to solicit cross functional feedback on data evidence generation needs to address future challenges

  • Develop training around key competitive events related to value, including response to ICER (Institute for Clinical and Economic Review) reports related to Inflammation products and/or nephrology products

  • Align and/or lead cross-functional workstreams to support business initiatives for payers

  • Support development of value-marketing plans aligned with coverage & pricing and overall brand strategic plans

  • Partner on market research with cross-functional stakeholders to generate deep payer customer, competitive, and marketplace insights

  • Develop and manage the value marketing budget

  • 5-10% travel may be required

Basic Qualifications

• Doctorate degree and 2 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

• Master’s degree and 4 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

• Associate’s Degree and 10 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

• High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and strategic thinking ability

  • Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry (market access and/or health economics)

  • Solid understanding of US health care system and key stakeholders (with an interest in formulary decision makers carrying out responsibilities for the selection of medications for coverage or reimbursement)

  • Understanding or familiarity with the US Value & Access organization, and how it interfaces with other parts of the business

  • Interest in working with and communicating health care economic information (HCEI)
