Senior Manufacturing Associate- Scheduling

This Senior Associate Scheduling position will support manufacturing and maintenance operations for Building 20 drug product operations in Thousand Oaks, CA. Under limited supervision, the Sr. Associate will build and maintain the finite schedule used by manufacturing, maintenance, and support groups during routine plant operations and maintenance shutdowns. This includes constant revision to ensure complete accuracy of all tasks required for production and support groups. Performance monitoring of schedule adherence metrics as well as facilitation of additional lean manufacturing applications. Provide a continuous communication interface between the GMP manufacturing teams in the plant and the supporting partner organizations.

Job scope and responsibilities:

  • Create, Maintain and publish current manufacturing finite schedules in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet or other scheduling softwares.

  • Facilitate communication between manufacturing, maintenance, utilities, validation, projects, and additional support groups to ensure deliverables remain on track, create windows for non-production activities, and use creative solutions to alleviate scheduling constraints.

  • Facilitate, lead, and own daily client meetings and other routine planning, scheduling, and coordination meetings. Ensure action items are assigned, followed up, and completed on time.

  • Develop and provide training to manufacturing staff on the use of the finite schedule.

  • Represent manufacturing on cross functional teams supporting projects, shutdowns, and events with site-wide impact.

  • Develop, monitor, and report on metrics such as schedule adherence, plant capacity utilization, resource usage, equipment usage, training etc.

  • Facilitate and lead Lean and Operational Excellence initiatives for B20 operations.

  • Maintain and publish a schedule summary and a visual planning board.

  • Identify and co-ordinate training opportunities and maintain B20 cross training plan.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience OR

  • Associate degree and 6 years related experience OR

  • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous in-depth experience using Microsoft Project / Excel / or other formalized planning/scheduling tool in a manufacturing setting.

  • Ability to be flexible, handle change, assign sequence of operations, and work cross functionally at Amgen.

  • Experience participating in and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in leading multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to handle cross-functional relationships and communicate optimally across levels.

  • Strong scientific, technical interactions with partner organizations such as engineering, utilities, and maintenance.

  • Experience with execution or coordination of Commissioning and Qualification, New Product Introduction, Cleaning Validation, and Process Performance Qualification.

  • Basic technical knowledge of Drug Product process, equipment, and associated utility systems.

  • Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret technical data through trend analysis, forecasting, modeling, etc. with excellent technical writing ability to convey processing events and conclusions.

  • Background in lean manufacturing methodologies and operational excellence.
