Amgen Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Operations in Thousand Oaks, California

The Sr. Manager, Strategic Planning & Operations (SP&O) reports into the Executive Director GPO National Account Management/Oncology Key Account Management and is responsible for the development, coordination, and measurement of strategic programs, productivity activity, and monitoring budget/expenses for the organization.

Additionally, the SP&O leads development of executive presentations including quarterly business reviews, acts as lead facilitator of senior level meetings, is responsible for goal setting and tracking deliverables , deploying communications, and special department process improvement initiatives and project management.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Supports OKAM leadership team in developing and administering team operating model and business cadence

  • Collaborates on implementation of key account tracking and results/performance measures

  • Develops and coordinates OKAM team quarterly business review process

  • Coordinates account management training programs and semester meeting planning

  • Drives sharing of best practice process to enhance account management performance

  • Generates detailed monthly reports on current key account challenges and opportunities supporting executive management briefings

  • Makes recommendations to management on improving account management effectiveness

  • Represents the department in working cross-functionally with field and home office teams

  • Collaborates with Finance Department and Brand Team on the annual budget/LRP process

  • Strategic/financial/tactical KPI development/tracking

  • Analysis of customer brand/competitor performance, as well as contract performance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of sales, sales ops and/or marketing experience

  • Master's degree and 4 years of sales, sales ops and/or marketing experience

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of sales, sales ops and/or marketing experience

  • Associate's degree and 10 years of sales, sales ops and/or marketing experience

  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of sales, sales ops and/or marketing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strategic planning and analytical experience

  • Strong business analysis skill and financial acumen

  • Strong ability to translate complex data/information into simple, actionable insights

  • Exceptional project management skills

  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional partnerships, execution, and results

  • Strong communication and matrix management skills including key partnership with Finance, US Value & Access, BAI, Global Marketing, Medical, among others will be paramount.

  • Solid understanding of the US payer environment including the ability to factor government and commercial payer insights into strategic and operational brand plans

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across the matrix

  • Excellent written, analytical and oral communication skills

  • Very strong PowerPoint and Excel skills, including direct experience using these skills in professional setting
