Amgen Senior Manager, HR Investigations in Thousand Oaks, California
The principle objectives of the position include:
Management of Human Resources (HR) investigation team with direct reports
Oversee and direct the conduct of timely, professional HR investigations
Consider investigation strategy and make continual improvements to investigator toolkit and related guidance documents
Carry a full investigation caseload, including the conduct of all executive-level HR investigations
Provide client service for HR
Act as Lead HR Investigator in the U.S.
Manage HR investigation team, monitor caseload and investigation quality, and analyze trends.
Serve as primary escalation point for business leaders and HR partners on HR investigations.
Provide mentorship and guidance to Staff Relations team and HR Business Partners on matters of HR policy compliance.
Develop, implement, and update HR investigation SOP and supporting documents and guidance material.
Conduct internal HR investigations (including all executive-level HR investigations), determine findings, and prepare all associated documentation.
Identify investigation issues, potential evidence and sources, and investigative actions.
Plan, schedule and conduct effective interviews of complainants, subjects and witnesses.
Gather and review relevant evidence and records.
Create professional, well-drafted investigation records, including investigation plans and investigation summaries.
Analyze information collected from witnesses and evidence and reach timely and unbiased conclusions and findings. Effectively assess witness credibility.
Develop case theories and scenarios, including an analysis of probabilities.
Report investigation findings to HR colleagues and business leaders in a clear, concise manner.
Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to all issues.
Provide employee relations support for employees in the HR function.
- Develop and recommend solutions to employee relations issues, including performance, misconduct, conflict, and workplace accommodations; assess risk and escalate issues when necessary.
Doctorate degree and 2 years of HR Business Partner/Generalist and / or Staff Relations experience
Master's degree and 4 years of HR Business Partner/Generalist and / or Staff Relations experience
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of HR Business Partner/Generalist and / or Staff Relations experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of HR Business Partner/Generalist and / or Staff Relations experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of HR Business Partner/Generalist and / or Staff Relations experience
Previous management experience in an HR investigations role.
Demonstrated ability to learn and fairly apply company policy, internal HR procedures, investigation procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws governing employment and labor (Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act, National Labor Relations, etc.).
Awareness of emerging HR compliance issues, internally and externally, and the implications to the company.
Prior experience interfacing with government enforcement agencies (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Fair Employment Agencies, Department Of Labor, etc.).
