Senior Associate Scientist -- Discovery Scale-up & Development/High Throughput Experimentation


What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be a part of our Discovery Scale-Up and Development group at our Research and Development facility in Thousand Oaks (CA). You will contribute to our innovative team, with responsibilities including (but not limited to) the design of synthetic routes and the synthesis of novel compounds for potential clinical drug development as well as levering automation and High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) to support route scouting and optimization.

  • You will devise and implement creative scientific research through conducting laboratory experiments on a wide range of scales, planning detailed procedures for defined projects including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, expected results and necessary resources.

  • Review, analyze, and interpret scientific data and results; provide regular updates, documentation, and/or communication on project results; collaborating with other scientists and keeping current with field of expertise, including literature and technology development.

  • advising supervisors and colleagues in areas of expertise; participating in national and international scientific meetings; providing scientific results that support the generation of publications or patents, and mentoring research associates and laboratory assistants.


What we expect of you

Basic qualifications

  • Doctorate degree OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 years of laboratory experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of laboratory experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in chemistry specializing in organic synthesis

  • Consistent track record of academic accomplishments (e.g., peer-reviewed publications and/or patents)

  • Demonstration of good lab practices, with particular attention to safety

  • Clear understanding of structural determination using NMR and MS techniques as well as knowledge of related purification methods

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), leadership skills and the ability to work well in teams
