The Senior Associate IS Business Analyst works within the Project & Service Excellence Group in Operations IS (OIS) to cross functionally support the Supply Chain, Engineering, Process Development, and Quality IS Teams. This individual will directly manage the financial and governance aspects of OIS Project Portfolio and be a member of the Amgen IS portfolio management team. There will also be many opportunities to participate in and lead special projects, exercising technical skills, increasing visibility, and driving career growth.
The successful candidate will be a strong contributor to the delivery capability of Operations IS by closely tracking and reporting the Project Portfolio Forecast and Spend, supporting functions in investment and project lifecycle processes, and leveraging analytics tools to provide OIS Leadership with various presentations and portfolio related insights for decision making. He or she will also gather, analyze and present data related to the OIS Project Portfolio in both periodic review meetings with the OIS Leadership Team, as well as the ad hoc needs of business partners, to ensure departmental alignment and visibility for all OIS functions.
Expected travel will be mostly domestic (minimal international) up to 10% of the time.
Drive a deep/comprehensive analytics process related to OIS projects, including spend, performance, value delivery, prioritization, and historical trends
Coordinate and drive various OIS Data Requests related to Project Portfolio, Application Portfolio, and Workforce Metrics by collaborating with OIS Functional Leads -gather/consolidate cross-functional raw data and leverage tools such as Tableau and PowerPoint to present information in a form easily consumable by leadership
Closely track OIS Portfolio Spend as well as Forecasts to ensure spend alignment with forecasted cash flows
Host monthly OIS Executive Review Meeting with OIS Leadership Team to provide updates on Financial Performance, Portfolio Health, Operational Metric Performance, and any ongoing initiatives
Represent Operations IS in the bi weekly Enterprise Portfolio Touchpoint meetings to ensure alignment with enterprise initiatives and take part in their formation
Participate in development of annual Project Prioritization Process and coordinate OIS Project Managers and Functional Leads to ensure portfolio demand data accuracy. Also, responsible for managing prioritization to ensure projects align with Business Partner needs.
Conduct Portfolio deep dives to identify optimization opportunities within Project Portfolio, reducing spend while increasing alignment and value
Manage data for the OIS portfolio of projects within our enterprise tool, Service Now PPS, including the recurring LE (latest estimate) financial process
Closely collaborate with the Portfolio Director and OIS Executive Director to ensure requested leadership data is periodically updated and presented in consumable form (leveraging Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, etc.)
Coordinate Functional Leads to ensure monthly submissions of Key Milestones and Functional project updates for consolidation of ad-hoc CIO Reports and Business Performance Presentations
Hold workstream Co-Lead role for the Methodology Workstream in the Functional Transformation Office (FTO) initiative: Year-Over-Year Productivity (Operations) - involves detailed metric process mapping and cross functional coordination for automation projects
Master's Degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or Life Sciences
Bachelor's Degree & 2 years of information systems experience
Associate's degree & 6 years of information systems experience
High school diploma/GED & 8 years of information systems experience.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to concisely present various subjects to leadership and coordinate all functional leads to provide requested data/updates
Proficiency in Analytics tools such as Tableau and Alteryx (plus deep experience with Excel)
Skilled with formulating data and ideas into concise and meaningful visual communication in tools such as PowerPoint
Ability to drive and facilitate discussions between multiple stakeholders in a meeting or workshop setting (Critical in Portfolio Prioritization Process)
Experience with project management and project financial management, including budgeting
Experience with Agile/Iterative Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including frameworks such as Scrum and SAFe, highly preferred
