Amgen Scientist, Raw Materials Analysis in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking a Scientist, Raw Materials Analysis to join our team and work from Amgen’s beautiful Thousand Oaks, CA campus. To learn more about:

This position is an exciting leadership opportunity within the Attribute Sciences organization. The Scientist will lead the effort to develop and qualify analytical methods for the analysis of raw materials used to manufacture Amgen’s biotherapeutics.

Day to Day Duties:

Providing scientific, technical and managerial leadership to the team developing and qualifying the raw materials methods

Serving as functional area owner and subject matter expert with key stake-holders


Leading the team to develop and qualify analytical methods including identification, purity, impurities methods for raw materials

Supporting method transfer and validation; monitoring method performance metrics and addressing method performance issues

Managing resources and priorities to ensure deliverables are met

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree


Master’s degree and 4 years of Scientific experience


Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Scientific experience

Desired Qualifications:

Technical experience and expertise: expertise and direct experience with analytical techniques for raw materials analysis, assay development (method optimization, qualification, validation). Knowledge and experience with raw materials compendial methods a plus, in-depth knowledge and experience with chromatography and spectroscopy a plus, knowledge and experience in cell culture and/or protein purification process a plus, experience in resource management a plus, PhD in Analytical chemistry or similar disciplines a plus.

Direct supervisory experience a plus.
