Scientist- Molecular Biology
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for designing and delivering expression vectors to produce complex multichain recombinant proteins. Additionally, the Scientist will contribute to the development of an end-to-end high throughput bioinformatics solution to enable an automated synthetic biology pipeline.
The Biologics Optimization team is seeking an experienced Scientist with expertise in Molecular or Synthetic Biology to join our team in Thousand Oaks. Biologics Optimization is a multidisciplinary team in Research with capabilities in protein engineering, cloning, expression, purification, and analysis of therapeutic proteins. The group is responsible for the engineering, production, assessment, and final selection of large molecule drug candidates that advance to Process Development.
Independently design, engineer, and assemble protein expression constructs and expression vectors for diverse protein classes in mammalian expression hosts.
Use Informatics and Data Analytics expertise to enable innovation in Biologics Optimization by developing and implementing new technologies
Act as a scientific leader with the ability to drive innovation, lead projects and teams, solve technical problems, and work both independently and across functions.
Provide scientific results that support the generation of publications, patents, or regulatory submissions, and participate in internal and external scientific meetings.
What we expect of you

Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree and 4 years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience
Firm knowledge of molecular biology, especially as applied to recombinant protein production
Strong skills in informatics and analysis of large data sets including scripting and/or programming languages
A track record of innovation as evidenced by patents and/or peer reviewed publications
Experience with modern DNA cloning techniques, e.g., Golden Gate or Gibson cloning and automation
Successful implementation of high throughput, library-based protein or cell engineering strategies
Experience with NGS data analysis
Experience with Biology LIMS systems
Strong data reporting experience leveraging analytics, visualization, and database technologies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate collaboration between colleagues in scientific and informatics-based roles
Passion for both bench work and informatics-based responsibilities
