Process Development Senior Scientist


What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this dynamic role you will represent Drug Product Technologies on cross-functional teams, lead junior scientists, and develop creative solutions to bring quality and innovative drug products to patients faster. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the DPT department and other Amgen functions, such as Drug Substance Technologies, Attribute Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Contract Manufacturing, Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism, Clinical Pharmacology, Biostatistics, etc.

  • Will have interactions with external industrial collaborators (e.g. IQ consortium) and academic groups (e.g. University Consortia).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of scientific experience OR Master’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, Chemistry or other relevant scientific fields with approximately 4+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with an emphasis, but not limited to oral solid dosage forms

  • Interpersonal and communication skills that enable effective management and resolution of complex project-related issues involving collaborations with multiple functional areas is a must.

  • In depth understanding of Biopharmaceutics

  • In depth understanding of typical unit operations for the manufacture of oral solid dosage forms (i.e. granulation, roller compaction, drying, milling, blending, compression, film coating, etc.)

  • Experience with Physiologically-Based Biopharmaceutical Modeling (PBBM) e.g. GastroPlus, Simcyp

  • Experience in authoring regulatory documentation (IND, MA, etc.) and interacting with regulatory authorities

  • Experience interacting with Contract Research/Manufacturing Organizations

  • Ability to demonstrate skills in independently determining and developing scientific analysis and solutions, as well as a strong publication record

  • Experience in optimization and scale-up studies using QbD principles

  • Experience on parenteral and or pediatric formulations, and unique dosage forms
