Amgen Process Development Senior Associate in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking a highly motivated Process Development Senior Associate to join our Process Development organization at our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The Senior Associate will support development of early phase cell culture, recovery, and purification processes for Amgen’s large molecule pipeline. Responsibilities encompass both cell culture and purification process development and include cell line expansion, production bioreactor, harvest, clarification, chromatography, and/or filtration technologies as well as completing virus clearance studies. The Senior Associate will work in a team environment, collaborating with various colleagues in process development.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocessing, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or Biochemistry discipline

Ability to identify, develop and implement solutions to practical problems through application of fundamental scientific and engineering principles, preferably in a process development environment.

Basic understanding of protein chromatography, filtration or cell culture principles; hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, and/or purification operations is a plus.

Prior experience with data analytical tools (Excel, Spotfire, etc.) is preferred. Experience with statistical analysis and programming in JMP, R, and/or Python environments is a plus.

Motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Team player with the ability to successfully work within a diverse team in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

Familiarity with design of experiments and statistical analysis of data desirable.
