Process Development Senior Associate - Pre-Pivotal Drug Substance Technologies
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will develop, characterize, and support clinical drug substance manufacturing processes for all early-stage programs in the Amgen portfolio.
This position is a purification development role within a bioprocess early stage development group. The ideal candidate will work closely together with both cell culture and purification scientists to advance Amgen’s rich, exciting and dynamic pipeline. With Amgen’s biology first approach, the position provides the unique opportunity to work on multiple modalities including antibodies, BiTEs, bispecific molecules, and siRNA therapeutics.
Responsible for support of the development, characterization, scale-up and support of downstream purification processes to enable clinical advancement of Amgen programs
Design and execute experiments at the bench scale, spanning the end-to-end drug substance process, within purification operations
Apply established platform approaches and utilize problem-solving skills to rapidly solve day-to-day experimental challenges
Utilize out-of-the-box thinking to contribute to technology development
Expand and develop skills within purification development, thereby further contributing to the integrated group
What we expect of you

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of life sciences industry experience
Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or other relevant sciences with a demonstrated record of excellence
Ability to identify, develop and implement solutions to practical problems through application of fundamental scientific and engineering principles, preferably in a process development environment
Basic understanding of protein purification techniques such as protein chromatography, TFF, filtration, etc.; hands-on experience with purification operations
Prior experience with data analytical tools (Excel, Spotfire, etc.) is preferred. Experience with statistical analysis and programming in JMP, R, and/or Python environments
Motivated self-starter with excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Teammate with the ability to successfully work within a diverse team in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
Familiarity with design of experiments and statistical analysis of data desirable.
As the successful candidate will be working on cross-functional process development teams, solid understanding or experience with cell culture and aseptic techniques is a plus.
