Amgen Process Development Scientist in Thousand Oaks, California
This is a scientific position within Amgen's Drug Substance Technology organization in the Pre-pivotal Bioprocessing Development department. This member will be responsible for the development of early stage upstream and downstream processes to enable Phase I/II clinical trials. This role is in an integrated group in which cell culture and purification scientists work together to advance Amgen's exciting and dynamic early stage pipeline.
The successful candidate will, by example, drive new approaches to rapidly solve purification challenges and build robust early stage processes with efficient experimentation.
Desire to expand and develop skills and expertise in cell culture, thereby further contributing to the integrated group and projects.
Doctorate degree by June 2018
Master's degree and 4 years scientific experience
Bachelor's degree and 6 years scientific experience
Strong understanding and extensive hands-on experience in protein chromatography, including affinity, ion exchange, and hydrophobic interaction chromatography
Proven track record problem solving and trouble-shooting protein purification processes
Experience in filtration operations, including ultrafiltration/diafiltration (UF/DF)
Demonstrated eminence in the scientific community through a sustained record of peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals
Leadership experience of progressively increased scope and a demonstrated ability to inspire and lead a group of scientists to deliver on complex and challenging objectives in defined timelines
