Process Development Scientist - Pre-Pivotal DP Synthetic Enabling Technology
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will serves as a key Drug Product Technology partner to Process Development and Research & Discovery.
You will play a meaningful role in the solid‐state form evaluation and characterization and the application of innovative materials science approaches to guide the DS and DP development.
Solid state form selection and characterization support for DS and DP process development for small molecules and biologics portfolios from Discovery to Life Cycle Management.
Generation of fundamental knowledge to establish form development strategies and Target Product Profile.
Conduct physicochemical property evaluations utilizing in silico models to guide development path.
To craft and conduct screening and crystallization experiments of small molecule drug candidates (including salts, co‐crystals, hydrates, solvates and polymorphs).
To evaluate and recommend suitable solid state drug substance forms, identify any gaps associated with process development and provide mitigation strategies to the development teams.
To perform a range of solid state characterization of pharmaceutical materials, including particle characterization, X‐ray diffraction, thermal analysis and spectroscopy.
To assess structure‐property relationship of DS forms and provide material options with the desired physicochemical properties for DS/DP development.
To support departmental activities including training staff and present scientific results at internal/external meetings.
To contribute to regulatory and intellectual property filings.
To keep track of new technologies and collaborate with internal and external organizations.
What we expect of you

Doctorate or Doctorate degree completed by December 2020
Master’s degree and 4 years of industry experience
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of industry experience
Doctorate Degree in one of the following areas: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Science or a related scientific subject area with 2‐4 years of post‐doctoral or industry experience.
Hands‐on experience and expertise in crafting and executing form screening and crystallization experiments to assess polymorphism, salt/co‐crystal formation and solvate/hydrate formation.
In‐depth experience in solid‐state techniques (DSC, TGA, XRD, microscopy, DVS, particle characterization, Raman, IR, etc.)
Good understanding in computational crystallography and data science to predict the properties and performance of drug substances and drug products.
Solid understanding in preformulation and biopharmaceutics concepts to evaluate the developability of small molecule drug candidates.
A successful track record of peer‐reviewed journal publications and presentations.
