Amgen Process Development Analytical Scientist - Cell Therapy in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen's Process Development Attribute Sciences group is developing analytical capabilities in cellular therapies. We are seeking a motivated scientist with experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and immunology to join our team.

The Process Development Scientist will be expected to develop, execute, and transfer analytical methods specific to CAR T-cell therapies. This individual will be expected to independently conduct experiments and maintain detailed records of procedure and results. More specific responsibilities include:

  • Design and execution of cell-based potency, qPCR, flow cytometry, and gene expression assays

  • Cell culturing, media formulation, and bioprocess experience

  • Drafting and editing method development reports, technical reports, and standard operating procedures (SOP)

  • Documenting experiments in quality management systems or electronic lab notebooks

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of industry experience in the cell therapy field

  • Knowledge of autologous or allogeneic CAR T-cell biology process development and manufacturing

  • Superb skills in T-cell culturing, primary cells, or other mammalian cell lines

  • Experience in cell-based cytotoxicity assays, qPCR, ddPCR, multiparameter flow cytometry, viral and non-viral vector analytics

  • Previous experience in DOE approach to method design

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and potentially train junior staff

  • Knowledge of cGMP operations and electronic quality management software
