Amgen Manager, Functional Transformation in Thousand Oaks, California
The Manager, Functional Transformation is a key member of the U.S. Value & Access organization. The Manager will engage with subject matter experts and leadership to diagnose pain points, identify opportunities, co-create solutions and successfully execute the highest priority efforts to enable USV&A to adapt to evolving business challenges. Areas of transformation include developing and driving adoption of new critical technology and capabilities, leading process optimization efforts, developing approaches to improve throughput and implementing comprehensive change strategies to support the dynamic needs of the organization.
The Manager will gather, analyze and synthesize cross-functional information across a variety of sources to turn unstructured business issues and requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result in high quality, meaningful insights and recommendations. The candidate will routinely support various ad-hoc projects in support of business priorities across USV&A, developing and applying an understanding of the US healthcare landscape. This role interacts cross functionally with Payer & Provider Contracting, Brand Marketing, Access & Value, Government Affairs, Trade & Distribution, Business Unit Leadership, Finance, Accounting, and Legal.
Ensures transformation project success by managing risks, removing roadblocks, and appropriately and quickly escalating issues
Provides planning, logistical support, and project management, in addition to participating hands-on in the solution development
Identifies and delivers new ideas to proactively address key business issues
Acts as a strategic architect, helping to construct and choreograph the team’s transformation portfolio
Acts as a thought partner to functional leads and other liaisons
Evangelizes the power of data driven analysis and seeks to democratize analytical tools and data sets to empower business partners
Constructively challenges teams by providing disconfirming information and encouraging innovative problem solving
Supports the team’s analytics strategy and roadmap, and leads execution of initiatives to advance the team’s progression along the analytics maturity curve
Routinely interacts with senior leadership and other high-level, cross functional committees or teams
Builds and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders; proactively seeks buy-in and provides on-going support to address business needs
Doctorate degree OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of Business, Finance or Operations experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Business, Finance or Operations experience OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Business, Finance or Operations experience OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Business, Finance or Operations experience
Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
Experience solving complex business problems and managing analytics projects. Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech environment. Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility.
Authoritative command of complexity and ambiguity; ability to see the big picture; ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable relevant business analyses
Experience modeling, analyzing, and validating large quantities of data and drawing conclusions
Extensive experience with advanced modeling in Excel, visualization packages like Tableau and data transformation tools like Alteryx
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence different styles
Adapts and thrives in a rapidly changing and fast-moving environment
Experience navigating the evolving U.S. healthcare system with specific interest on the interactions between Government and Healthcare
Excellent project management skills and capacity to manage/lead multiple projects
Exceptional written/oral communication skills and executive presence across functions and across different levels of leadership
