The Global Category Senior Manager will be responsible for one or more categories within Manufacturing Operations and Supply Chain. Categories may include Clinical / Commercial Distribution, Secondary Packaging, etc. The Global Category Senior Manager will develop and manage the overall sourcing and supplier management processes for the categories.

Strategic Contribution

  • Develop, support and manage strategy for respective categories

  • Be a trusted advisor to VPs / Executive Directors

Delivery Innovation, Customer Experience and Supply Chain

  • Serve as a thought partner and actively challenge work to deploy the most comprehensive and creative solutions

  • GSS decision maker for category/functional sourcing strategy and supplier selection

Delivering Value for Customers

  • Drive operating efficiencies by understanding business needs and complex supply markets

  • Access supplier capability and innovation for the business

  • Manage and mitigate supply risk

Developing Category Strategies

  • Deliver customer solutions via global/regional category strategy

  • Bring Industry/business function-specific knowledge and experience

  • Customize sourcing strategy to drive value in specific functional environment, including legal & regulatory context

  • Initiate/build industry peer relationships

  • Support stakeholders with development of their business strategies

Driving Organizational Alignment

  • Frame & drive cross-functional sourcing agendaDrive alignment between category strategy and the needs and requirements of regions, countries, and sites

  • Engage with GSS country organizations to leverage local expertise and create engagement with local stakeholders

  • Drive stakeholder management across the Operations organization

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree AND 2 years of directly related experience

OR

Master's degree AND 4 years of directly related experience

OR

Bachelor's degree AND 6 years of directly related experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of directly experience

OR

High school diploma / GED AND 12 years of directly related experience AND 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fulfillment of at least one of the following combinations: management consulting, market research & data suppliers and/or market research & data sourcing background

  • Experience with pharmaceutical logistics

  • Broad knowledge of the market forces shaping a customer's business context (e.g. supplier base, legal & regulatory environment, sources of competitive advantage)Demonstrated experience in identifying and utilizing full set of sourcing levers to drive value for customers

  • Ability to conduct benchmarking to address cost, quality, risk and innovation considerationsAbility to provide thought leadership and actively shape strategy

Analytical & Technical

  • Knowledge of sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management

  • Strong understanding of best in breed eProcurement solutions

  • Ability to analyze, summarize, and present insights based on the needs of the audience

  • Ability to develop business cases and champion opportunities with quantifiable financial benefits

  • Independent self-starter and able to motivate others to accomplish ambiguous tasks

  • Ability to lead teams in a matrix organization, across geographic and functional reporting lines

  • Demonstrated track record of identifying root causes to issues and proactively problem solving

  • Change management experience with large and complex organizational transformations with proven project management experience
