Director, Global Operations Leader (GOL) - Cell Therapy

The Global Operations Leader (GOL) represents Operations as a key member of Amgen's Product Strategy Team (PT). Working closely with all PT members and under the guidance of Operations Therapeutic Area Leaders, the GOL ensures that all aspects of Operations are carefully considered cross functionally as part of the product commercialization strategy, including ongoing product supply, strategic product sourcing, Quality, compliance, manufacturing process economics, competitive intelligence.

The Global Operations Leader - Cell Therapy will focus on providing strategic oversight for Amgen's growing Cell Therapy portfolio. In addition to the standard functions for this role, the Cell Therapy GOL will be expected to help shape and drive ongoing process development for the asset class, manufacturing technology assessments - both internal and external, attribute strategy, and method development.

Domestic and International travel up to 15%

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Manufacturing and/or Operations experience


Master's degree and 8 years of Manufacturing and/or Operations experience


Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Manufacturing and/or Operations experience


4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated excellence and experience in the clinical and commercial development of cell therapy programs including aspects related to both CMC and regulatory requirements

  • Advanced degree in Science or Engineering

  • 12 or more years of experience in the biotechnology industry including leadership roles (e.g., team leadership or functional leadership roles) in key Operations functions (e.g., Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality)

  • Authoritative command of dealing with complexity and ambiguity; ability to collect, digest and communicate information through relevant business analyses to influence decision-making

  • Ability to communicate vertically and horizontally through multiple channels, leverage contact network to motivate diverse teams, and enable cross-functional collaboration

  • Intermediate to advanced project management skills, including the ability to identify and execute strategic initiatives, manage multiple projects, prioritize project resources, and assess project effectiveness and efficiency
