Amgen Contracts and Pricing Manager in Thousand Oaks, California
The Manager, Contract Operations is a key member of the Commercial Operations team within US Value and Access Team. Contract Operations team is responsible for the commercial and government pricing and contracting activities for a book of business in excess of $20 Billion annually.
The Contracts Operation team is responsible for timely and accurate execution of discounts for contracted customers at Amgen which includes ensuring compliance against applicable Commercial contracts, validating and processing data from multiple sources including third parties, disputing and resolving data discrepancies, calculating contract performance and adhering to Amgen’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) reporting requirements. This position will be responsible for managing a team of analysts dedicated to the Payer space and will guide the team through the evolving landscape to ensuring Amgen’s success in the Commercial Healthcare Market.
Understands subject matter of Contracts and Pricing Operations within the Payer landscape on an expert level
Partner withContract and Contract Operation leadersIS Business Analysts,Coverage and Pricing,and others to assess and influence discount design to ensure operational feasibility within thecommercial contract payment systems, currently,Global Contracts and Pricing System (GCPS),and determine impact to existing resources or business processes
Execute as business lead for Managed Care team forStratUSproject, system implementation currently in development to replace GCPS,to ensure Managed Carebusinessrequirements are metthrough system requirements development or effective business processes.
Work with external vendors to define capabilities required for data collection and integration with Amgen applications
Provideinnovative and responsive contracting strategies with providers, payers, and a broader, more complex and evolving customer base.
Document processes to support the maintenance of contracting strategies and provide leadership with impact analysis summarizing resourcing needs and timing of key activities
Provide recommendations for application enhancements or the use of other tools to improve processes and support contracting strategies
Establish and maintain effective relationships with GCPS business users, IS,Coverage and Pricing, Accounting/Finance, Compliance, internal legal counsel, other cross-functional groups and external stakeholders and suppliers that interact with Commercial Discounts
Review and understand current and proposed legislation, rules and releases, including Health Care Reform and the impact to Commercial Discounts Operations
Design holistic solutions to anticipate and address stakeholder needs based on organizational strategy and vision
Drive the development of innovative solutions and processes including the development of new approaches for projects, applications and department service offerings
Coach, motivate and provide career and technical advice to direct reports and others in the department
Execute special projects and assignments
Doctorate degree OR
Master’s degree and 3 years of ProjectManagement/transaction processing operations/leadership experienceOR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of ProjectManagement/transaction processing operations/leadership experience OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of ProjectManagement/transaction processing operations/leadership experience OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of ProjectManagement/transaction processing operations/leadership experience AND
Previous managerial experience directly managing people and/or experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications :
Payer experience or experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment with emphasis in Sales and Marketing
Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and leadership experience
Advanced computer & system operations skills
Ability to develop reports and analytical tools to measure performance of commercial contracts.
Ability to develop and deliver formal presentations to senior leadership, including translating complex data and processes into succinct executive summaries
Proven ability to execute and communicate effectively in a highly fluid, interactive, matrixed environment
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple simultaneous, complex projects to completion.
Authoritative command of complexity and ambiguity; ability to see the big picture; ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable relevant business analyses
High attention to detail/reporting accuracy, balances strong detail orientation with the ability to conceptualize problems
Identifies and implements cross functional process improvement opportunities within and outside the department
Problem solving that identifies and develops solutions to complex problems from a strategic and operational perspective that have significant impact to the business
Able to abstract principles from previous experience and apply judgement to drive organizational risk management decisions
