Amgen is seeking a talented and highly motivated computational chemist to join the computational and data sciences team. In this vital role you will apply computational chemistry and machine learning techniques to help drive drug discovery programs. The primary responsibilities are:
Developing and applying cutting-edge machine learning and computational chemistry methods for ligand discovery and optimization.
Utilizing structure-based and ligand-based drug design and predictive modeling to advance drug discovery projects.
Working closely with an interdisciplinary team consisted of medicinal chemists, protein chemists, structural biologists, and therapeutic biologists, formulating testable hypotheses, designing experiments, and providing thorough analysis to help the next round of design.
What we expect of you
We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The qualified professional we seek is a computational chemist with these qualifications.
Master’s degree and 4 years of industry experience
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of industry experience
PhD. in Computational Chemistry or related fields with focus in machine learning method development and/or applications.
Strong track record of research accomplishment exemplified by three or more first author scientific publications or conference presentations
Expertise in building/deploying machine learning models and result interpretation
Fluent in Python scripting and/or C++ programing language. Must be familiar with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
Working knowledge of contemporary computational chemistry techniques.
Experience with one or more molecular modeling suites (MOE, Discovery Studio, Schrodinger, etc.)
Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment
