Amgen Compliance Manager, WC&BE Investigations Triage Lead in Thousand Oaks, California
This role will report to the Director Compliance Investigations US & LACAN (based in Thousand Oaks). The role is part of Amgen’s Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics function, which is responsible for leading internal compliance investigations.
This role involves identifying compliance issues in reports from various sources, conducting fact gathering, analyzing information from multiple sources, presenting triage information and recommendations to the Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics (WC&BE) Investigations team, database entry and report generation, document identification and extraction of information from internal Amgen systems, and management of investigation-related files.

Identify compliance issues in reports from various sources
Conduct fact gathering, including interviewing relevant parties, obtaining advice from subject matter experts and collecting documents/information
Analyze multiple sources of information, determine recommendations and present analysis to WC&BE Investigations team
Accurately and clearly record the outcome of triage decisions in WC&BE Investigations system of record (EthicsPoint)
Serve as WC&BE Investigations liaison for matters related to EthicsPoint
Assign tasks to internal partners such as HR/Staff Relations, HCC Leads, etc.
Assist Investigations Director with executive reports
Develop and maintain working knowledge of Amgen’s Healthcare Compliance Policy and Standard Operating Procedures
Develop and maintain expert knowledge and understanding of relevant laws and regulations
Apply knowledge of the above to Amgen business processes that involve interactions with Healthcare Organizations and Healthcare Professionals
Access and update various Amgen source systems (e.g. C3, SAP, Concur, Salesforce.com) to gather information needed to make assessments on transactions and communications
Perform Data Quality analysis to identify, triage and where appropriate, escalate business or systems issues needing resolution
Identify opportunities for process improvements and provide implementation proposals
Establish working relationships and communicate effectively with key internal partners including HR, Legal, Corp Audit and Finance and with external third-parties, including Investigative service providers who work closely with the Investigation Managers/Team
Master’s degree and 2 years of Compliance experience
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Compliance experience
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Compliance experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Compliance experience
Strong analytical skills. The team handles a large volume of reports involving a variety of matter types, often with minimal initial details; therefore, flexibility and the ability to quickly analyze a situation and adapt to a constantly changing environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable networking and interacting with other teams and functions at all levels of the company to achieve shared goals
Experience in internal investigations or a combination of investigation and audit experience gained within the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry/other industry sectors
Strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently on multiple projects and with minimal supervision
Strong familiarity with technology and comfort with using various systems, including Excel, Access and web-based tools (e.g. SharePoint, SAS, SAP)
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
