Amgen Commercial Forecasting Manager in Thousand Oaks, California

The Commercial Data and Analytics (cDNA) Forecasting Manager will support Global & US forecasting for key General Medicine products, both in-line and pipeline. He or she must be a passionate champion of insights-driven strategy and objective evidence-based decision making.

This person will:

  • Independently design, prepare, and maintain patient- and demand-based forecasts and scenarios for US in-line products and global pipeline assets aligned to the needs of cross functional stakeholders

  • Independently contribute to regular forecast cycles including quarterly brand and annual long-range brand and pipeline forecasts

  • Independently use forecasts to support product decision making and to respond to ad-hoc forecast requests

  • Independently perform in-depth data analysis to create robust assumptions and forecast inputs

  • Lead collaboration with internal cross functional partners, including finance, marketing, pricing, value & access, to obtain relevant data and analysis for forecast inputs

  • Leverage solid biopharma environment understanding to deliver brand and asset level insights from analytics and forecasts

  • Confidently present and defend forecast approach, methodology, assumptions, and output at the executive level

  • Contribute to the advancement and implementation of new forecast approaches and methodology

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree


Master’s degree and 2 years of commercial forecasting and/or analytics experience


Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of commercial forecasting and/or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS/MBA)

  • 5+ years of forecasting, market research, business analytics or consulting experience

  • Ability to prioritize across many requests from many stakeholders

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts and controversial findings clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management

  • Strong project management skills—able to organize and complete multiple projects efficiently and on time

  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment

  • Experience with a variety of forecasting, quantitative techniques (e.g., smoothing, regression, time series analysis), advanced spreadsheets, modeling software, and reporting software

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to support key business decisions

  • Working knowledge of commonly used biopharmaceutical industry datasets and databases

  • Experience within therapeutic areas of interest to Amgen Gen Medicine: inflammation, neurology, cardiovascular, respiratory
