Amgen Associate Research Operations in Thousand Oaks, California

The External Relationship Management team within the Translational Sciences Operations department is seeking an enthusiastic and result-oriented Associate, External Relationship Management.

This position will provide tactical support to the lead of the External Relationship Management team within Translational Sciences Operations. This role will focus on external relationship management by providing coordination support to a variety of academic outreach projects (e.g. educational outreach, postdoc program) involving Amgen stakeholders internally and in academia.

Responsibilities include :

  • Coordinate outreach activities to key target academic institutions in the Thousand Oaks geography, e.g. the education outreach program

  • Support the organization of events to build internal cohesion to enhance Amgen scientific reputation, e.g. events for the Amgen postdoc community

  • Contribute to the development of the ERM team communication plan, e.g. developing internal website(s) for outreach programs, generating annual reports, managing satisfaction surveys

  • Recommend process improvements for tactical activities in scope of this role.

  • Provide tactical support for special projects as needed

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree by August 2018

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Life Sciences

Strong oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate professionally and effectively (verbal and written) with various stakeholders

Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build relationships with a broad spectrum of audiences

Strong project management skills, proficiency in logistic planning from beginning to end, priority setting, timely delivery of results, and multi-tasking while maintaining a focus on quality

Ability to think critically, proactively anticipate problems and propose solutions

Ability to work effectively/collaboratively across teams, levels of management, across partnerships, leverage contact network to motivate diverse teams, and enable cross-functional collaborations

Self-directed, innovative and collaborative spirit, flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, and resourceful

Strong computer skills; strong technical use of Microsoft Suite
