Job summary:

We are seeking an Associate Data Center Engineer with experience in operations, infrastructure management, design, relocation, upgrade, and decommissioning of business-critical systems within Data Centers and all related supporting technologies. This position will be located at our manufacturing site in Thousand Oaks, California (can be Remote USA).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and lead the daily operations and incident response activities for the local site’s DC and IDF/MDF rooms

  • Ability to work after normal business hours to support project or incident related items

  • Handle site ticket queue and update action items throughout the ticket lifecycle

  • Perform infrastructure patching to ensure end-user network availability

  • Participate or lead in the design, development, and implementation of data center projects including but not limited to expansions, upgrades, installations, and decommissions

  • Plan, organize and prioritize incoming tasks and/or project workloads to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

  • Provide clear and concise direction to internal and external consultants to increase work productivity

  • Review, update and maintain data center and infrastructure "as-built" documentation as re-configurations occur

  • Create high-level and detailed space, rack and cabling design diagrams and facilitate design reviews

  • Handle the delivery of supporting MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) services to all MFG data centers and perform detailed power utilization calculations and optimization

  • Perform asset receiving and inventory duties including unboxing, order validation, record keeping, and proper system labeling

  • Ensure inventory management is accurate with Data Center Ops / Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tool

  • Create, review, and update documentation for the Data Center Operations SOP’s and knowledge base

  • Work with IS teams to understand server and network hardware requirements with respect to power density, rack positioning, cabling, cooling, airflow containment, and environmental consideration

  • Review, understand, and approve facility-related maintenances (Mechanical and Electrical) and notify internal partners of upcoming activities with potential impacts

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR Bachelor's degree and two (2 years of Information Science experience

OR Associate's degree and 4 years of Information Science experience

OR High school diploma / GED and 6 years of Information Science experience

  • Review, understand and approve facility-related maintenances (mechanical and electrical) and notify internal collaborators of upcoming activities with potential impacts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years professional experience in Information Systems operations and data centers support

  • Knowledge of critical power distribution, UPS, PDU, and Mechanical systems and data systems

  • Strong cross-discipline knowledge of complete critical facility systems

  • Troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Provide solutions to complex projects

  • Effective communications skills (interpersonal, written and verbal)

  • Familiar with Visio software and DCIM tools

  • Knowledge in data center practices (i.e. fault tolerance, cable routing, calculating power usage)

  • Working knowledge with server/network hardware

  • Work with minimal direction

  • Understanding of Electrical Power distribution and operation

  • Understanding of standard methodologies related to the design, implementation, and operation of vario

  • A positive, service-oriented attitude and established track record of success

  • Solid understanding of infrastructure cables including fiber and copper backbone

  • Understanding of best cabling practices for both vertical and horizontal cabling

  • Understanding of ITIL fundamentals and processes

  • Knowledge of industry applications including Service Now, MS products, environmental monitoring, and DCIM software

  • Proficient in the English language

  • Up to 15% travel may be required (domestic and international)
