Amgen Specialist IS Programmer (Semantic Technologies and Data Marketplace) in Tampa, Florida

Amgen is seeking a Specialist Information Systems Programmer (Semantic Technologies and Data Marketplace) who will work on our Analytics and Knowledge Management (AKM) team. The Specialist will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems and will work out of our Amgen Capability Center in Tampa, FL.

The Specialist IS Programmer will be part of the Analytics and Knowledge Management (AKM) organization and will be accountable for the delivery and adoption of Amgen's Enterprise Data Marketplace (Data Catalog) and for delivery of analytic solutions using Semantic technologies. The Specialist will be responsible for delivering business value through client projects, growing the value of the data marketplace platform, and implementing analytic solutions using semantic technologies.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and evolution of Amgen's Enterprise Data Marketplace

  • Manage and execute on the Data Marketplace product backlog

  • Develop semantic integration layer for cross-functional data

  • Develop functional area knowledge graphs

  • Collaborate with the business to understand use cases, clarify requirements, do proof of concepts, and do demos

  • Design, develop, and release high quality and maintainable code

  • Perform emerging technologies evaluation and scanning for new ideas for applying the emerging technologies

  • Develop training, roadshow materials, and outreach events to increase the adoption of various solutions developed

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in computer science or related field

  • Experience working with Open Data frameworks such as CKAN or DKAN. Prior experience implementing a Data Catalog/Data Marketplace solution

  • Experience with one or more NoSQL databases such as MarkLogic, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Neo4J, or RDF triple stores

  • Experience writing SPARQL queries

  • Experience using search engines like Solr or Elasticsearch

  • Hands on experience programming using Java

  • Hands on experience using Linux/Unix

  • Experience building RESTful APIs or web services

  • Expert understanding of software development, DevOps, unit test, automated testing, GitLab, continuous integration (Jenkins), and continuous deployment (Docker and Kubernetes)

  • Cloud native development experience using AWS or Google Cloud Platform or Azure

  • Experience with data analytics tools and services and data engineering best practices

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Penchant to learn about new technology innovation and creativity in applying to business problems
