Amgen Software Development Engineer in Test (SDE/T) in Tampa, Florida

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDE/T) position resides in Amgen's Analytics & Information Discovery team at Amgen, and will report to the Director, IS Analytics & Information Discovery. The SDE/T will be based at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL.

The SDE/T will be working directly on the DevOps framework developed by this team to ensure its functionality, quality, and performance are industry leading. This framework was designed using open source tools and manages both custom code development and deployment capabilities as well as test and deploy Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications into the Amgen's multi-cloud environment. We are currently extending its capabilities to assist our data scientists to manage their DataOps needs in a multi-cloud ecosystem.

The successful candidate will be expected to have comprehensive understanding regarding software testing methodologies and be able to design, write and run full stack automated tests across the complete CI/CD pipeline.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Work with the team to evolve the best testing practices and enhance the testing frameworks around unit, CI, load, and performance testing capabilities against the full CI/CD pipeline

  • Test end-to-end CI/CD use cases, understanding key user community configurations, use cases, and environments, including DataOps configurations for AI and ML

  • Learn and understand DataOps testing needs and requirements

  • Effectively test using public cloud environments, particularly AWS and GCP


  • Help evolve Amgen's qualification and validation testing requirements and automation; work with clients to better automate application and infrastructure testing to meet FDA requirements

  • Work with other test engineers at Amgen and help lead and evolve best testing practices

  • Assist and help data scientists and data analytics teams use and embrace testing in their DataOps lifecycle

  • Be an integral member of the core DevOps/DataOps development team and help develop, test, deploy, and operated the service 24x7x365 globally

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Product Development experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Product Development experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Product Development experience

OR

Associate degree and 10 years of Product Development experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Product Development experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS or MS in computer science or related field

  • 2+ years of experience testing in an agile, TDD driven development environment using automated unit, acceptance, CI, and system testing

  • 3+ years of experience testing web service technologies using modern programming languages and application frameworks such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Django, Grails, Express, etc.

  • Experience doing full stack testing including infrastructure cloud services (Storage, VMs, Network, etc.) as well as application business logic, user interface, and user experience in a CI/CD pipeline environment

  • Experience designing, building, and running automated test frameworks and testing distributed systems in AWS and GCP cloud environments

  • Experience deploying and testing services using containers (Docker) and Kubernetes

  • Experience testing security fundamentals using role-based security along with OpenID, SAML, and LDAP authentication

  • Experience testing CI/CD pipelines using encryption keys and controls needed to protect information at rest and in-flight

  • Experience using Jenkins and open source test tools

  • Familiarity testing serverless computing and microservice functions a plus
