Amgen Senior Associate, Sourcing Excellence in Tampa, Florida
Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate, Sourcing Excellence who will have the opportunity to work closely with the Global Commercial Operations (GCO), including Sales/Marketing, Data Acquisition and Analytics, and Business Process Outsourcing in one of the leading biotech companies in the world. The Senior Associate will play a key role in executing the sourcing processes across a variety of Global Commercial Operations (GCO) teams. The Sr. Associate will report to the Sr. Manager, Sourcing Excellence, GCO Services and will work out of the Amgen Capability Center located in Tampa, Florida.

Primary responsibilities include the following:
Align and agree on priorities with appropriate global and regional category managers (GCM/RCM)
Support supplier analysis and market intelligence activities
Create, issue and monitor RFX and Contract within Ariba sourcing and contracting modules and interface with suppliers and internal stakeholders throughout the process
Document (in Ariba) and guide sourcing execution through to implementation
Ensure sourcing tactics drive value in specific functional business environments, including legal & regulatory context
Develop and maintain preferred supplier lists
Implement supplier improvement programs within key supplier relationships
Understand business goals and interpret customer needs to identify potential opportunities
Partner with colleagues in Sourcing Excellence, Global Strategic Sourcing and Business Stakeholders in the R&D and Operations communities to accomplish goals and objectives related to sourcing / contracting projects
Support delivery and validation of savings
Ensure Amgen’s sourcing policies are followed, compliance metrics are met or exceeded and supported by supplier contracts
Inform stakeholders on Amgen’s sourcing policies and procedures, providing support and corrective actions where required
Review and approve purchase requisitions or escalate any non-compliant requisitions to the appropriate GCM/RCM
Lead contracting with new suppliers
Provide ongoing contract management (incl. renewal and renegotiation of existing and expiring contracts)
- Master’s degree
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Sourcing, Management Consulting or Project Management experience
- Associate’s degree and 6 years of Sourcing, Management Consulting or Project Management experience
- High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Sourcing, Management Consulting or Project Management experience
Broad knowledge and experience in sourcing and/or contracting processes
Strong written and verbal communications skills to interface effectively with suppliers and business partners and foster collaboration among cross-functional teams
Ability to understand end-user requirements and determine the best methods for executing sourcing process and delivering value
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments concurrently and function within a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to execute work assignments with minimal direct supervision
Maintain the highest level of professionalism and ethics, values and standards
Knowledge of sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management
Reasonable understanding of best in breed eProcurement solutions (experience with Ariba Sourcing and Contract Modules preferred)
Ability to analyze, summarize, and present insights based on the needs of the audience
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Demonstrated track record of identifying root causes to issues and proactively problem solving
Demonstrated success in partnering cross-functionally
Ability to own and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders
Compelling and persuasive communicator (oral and written) with excellent interpersonal skills
