What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems based at our Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. The Global Infrastructure Services team is the global enterprise group that manages physical and virtual servers including private and public cloud instances. These servers support Amgen’s infrastructure and provide critical services for databases, middleware, application, and security functions required to deliver Amgen’s business needs. The primary Linux platform supported is RHEL with a smaller number of Ubuntu servers.
Manages and administers Linux RHEL & Ubuntu servers
Makes support decisions and server build recommendations aligned with the Amgen IS roadmap for Linux.
Provides technical support for projects and operational support as required for activities such installations, Operating System upgrades, backup/recovery, and high availability configurations
Ensures that systems are implemented and maintained with necessary security patches as well as configured properly to ensure system security and reliability
Implements server automation solutions and enterprise-wide solutions using tools such as Ansible playbooks.
Provide performance analysis and system tuning recommendations utilizing software tools to identify, analyze, and diagnose problems and factors affecting performance.
Investigates and resolves server related technical issues providing rotational 24x7 On-Call Support.
Assists with Root Cause Analysis and problem reviews to provide recommendations for service improvements.
Accountable for security compliance following both Amgen internal and external government regulations.

Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Information Systems and Linux experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 6 years of Information Systems and Linux experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Information Systems and Linux experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience implementing DevOps principles, Site Reliability Engineering, Agile, GitOps and CICD
System Administration with automation knowledge using tools such as Ansible, Chef/Puppet, Jenkins and git.
Industry Certifications and experience with Linux and clustering such as Veritas Infoscale & Red Hat Pacemaker.
Experience with leading cloud providers such as AWS, Google or Azure
Strong understanding of operating system and networking tools for troubleshooting issues
Working knowledge on NAS/SAN storage, Clustering and HA configurations
Excellent data-driven problem solving and analytical skills
Proven experience as part of a high-performance team

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $80,632-$100,066 USD
