Amgen Global Category Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager in Tampa, Florida

JOB SUMMARY

The Global Category Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager will report into the Technology Vertical Lead within Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) and will be responsible for $185M spend to include: Technology Services such as Service Desk, Application Support and the entire Hardware environment at Amgen. The Senior Manager will be accountable for developing and managing the overall sourcing and supplier management process(s) for this evolving these categories.

The Senior Manager will work out of Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. Strategic Contribution

  • Manages all Technology Spend within GBS Tech and select Regions

  • Develop, Manage/Support overall strategy for all technology categories in conjunction with business objectives related to GBS Tech and selected Regions

  • Provide advice and counsel for GBS Tech Leadership

  • Deep understanding of external supply markets & alignment to business strategy

  • Deliver effective risk and spend management results enabling GBS Tech to deliver on Amgen Business needs in accordance with policies and processes

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep knowledge of business strategies, objectives and as applicable service expectations for GBS Tech and selected Regions

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders / groups and with key providers in current and future markets

  • Provide subject matter advice to internal and external stakeholder groups addressing current/future business needs demonstrating marketplace knowledge to supported functions and in support of GSS teams for other functions within Amgen

  • Lead and influence stakeholder groups with sound and articulate business case recommendations (i.e. sourcing strategies, service models, and ecosystem impacts) with quantifiable financial benefits

  • Develop sourcing strategies and lead complex RFPs including strong commercial negotiations, supporting the team with data analytics, leading supplier evaluations and shepherding the contractual negotiations in collaboration with stakeholders and business partners (Legal, Compliance, Audit, Sourcing Excellence etc.)

  • Designs and develops multi-year category sourcing strategy for supported functions in alignment with stakeholder annual / multi-year plans

  • Builds a pipeline of category projects aligned to supported stakeholders & category responsibilities as the global lead in collaboration with relevant GSS regional / category peers and key stakeholders Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree & 2 years of Sourcing, Management Consulting, IS Technology experienceORMaster's degree & 6 years of Sourcing, Management Consulting, IS Technology experienceORBachelor's degree & 8 years of Sourcing, Management Consulting, IS Technology experienceORAssociate's degree and 10 years of Sourcing, Management Consulting, IS Technology experienceORHigh school diploma / GED and 12 years of Sourcing, Management Consulting, IS Technology experience Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of procurement/sourcing/category management methodology and able to drive value for customers leveraging the right sourcing levers

  • Excellent and disciplined project management and prioritization skills with ability to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently

  • Proven ability to deliver complex multi-regional and/or global projects in a matrixed and global environment

  • Track record in establishing strong SOW/SLAs and ensuring supplier performance

  • Broad knowledge of the market forces shaping a customer's business context (e.g. supplier base, legal & regulatory environment, sources of competitive advantage)

  • Ability to conduct benchmarking to address cost, quality, risk and innovation considerations

  • Ability to provide thought leadership, ability to influence and actively shape strategy

  • A sourcing expert with strong financial acumen and problem-solving skills

  • Independent self-starter and able to motivate others to accomplish ambiguous tasks

  • Understands the Source to Pay processes including managing sourcing projects in Ariba, including the execution of online RFx and e-Auctions
