Amgen Director, Global Identity and Access Management in Tampa, Florida

The Director Identity and Access Management reports directly to the Global Chief Information Security Officer for Amgen and has total responsibility for the direction of Identity and Access Management processes, tools, technologies, team and service offerings, globally. This Director leverages leading-edge technologies, and innovative approaches to position Amgen for measurable success; improving efficiency, increasing security posture, and supporting aggressive growth. The successful candidate delivers and manages the enterprise-wide, Identity and Access Management program to address Authentication, Provisioning/Deprovisioning, Role Management, Red-Forest Management, Session Management, Password Vaulting, Privileged Account Management, Access Governance, Single Sign On, IAM Analytics, PKI and Certificate Management, User Experience, and API Management. This Director is also responsible for management and governance of the External Business Partner (EBP) Service, and the ongoing Run Service for IDM.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Report to CISO on IAM program strategic objectives and operational run metrics, key performance indicators and outcomes

  • Develop and curate the global strategy for Identity and Access Management while ensuring its durability, scalability, resilience, and user experience sensitivity

  • Direct and guide development of IAM architecture and related technologies

  • Responsible for the development and on-going governance of IAM roadmaps, change management plans, and end user communications

  • Directs the design of identity access controls rules, roles, and policies, globally while ensuring consistency regardless of technologies in use

  • Liaison with other IS areas and development teams regarding IAM best practices for both on-premise and cloud based solutions for employees, contractors, partners and customers

  • Meet all security, privacy, compliance and audit obligations

  • Work closely with Software Architects to propose solutions and provide strategic technical direction across the team

  • Direct management of key directory and identity (LDAP- Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) and architectural personnel

  • Oversight and control of a large managed service outsourced capability

  • Overall accountability for team delivery and technical support

  • Lead and develop team members

  • Occasional off-hours support may be necessary to address outages, pressing system issues, or scheduled deployments

  • Present to different levels within and outside of the organization (suppliers, management, sponsors, governance committees, functions etc.)

This role is based at Amgen's corporate headquarters in Tampa, FL.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience


Master's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience


Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience


4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and 12 years of Information Systems experience

  • Excellent written communication, verbal & presentation skills

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills

  • BioPharmaceutical technology environment experience

  • Expert understanding of the workings of security-related control systems, processes and teams including 4 or more of the following:

  • Microsoft Red-Forest Implementations

  • TCP/IP and related network protocols

  • Cryptographic Services

  • Active Directory

  • Access and Entitlement Management Programs and Software.

  • Mobile Authentication Solutions.

  • Amazon PaaS and Identity Service Capabilities

  • Azure PaaS and Identity Service Capabilities

  • Current and in-depth knowledge and understanding of advance security concepts associated with authentication attacks, techniques, and threat models

  • Proficient in preparation of reports, dashboards and documentation

  • Practical Knowledge of Information Security standards and policies like ISO 27001/27002, NIST, and others

  • Demonstrated ability to handle high pressure situations with key stakeholders

  • Successful management of competing priorities under ambiguous circumstances

  • Team-oriented, placing priority on the successful completion of team goals

  • Highly motivated and able to work effectively under minimal supervision

  • Experience in performing vendor management

  • CISSP or equivalent security-related industry certifications

  • Accepts responsibility and personal accountability

  • Military experience
