Amgen Sr Mgr, Regional Medical Liaison in Taipei, Taiwan

Accountability

  • Leading a team of Regional Medical Liaisons (RMLs/MSLs) within Medical and are responsible for managing/coaching a group of RMLs

  • Scientific and/or strategic expert, who functions as liaison between the RML field staff and internal Amgen cross‐functional stakeholders (eg, Development, Medical Capability, Medical, and Commercial teams)

  • Accountable to Medical Director and work closely to align and advance RML organizational strategies, goals, and tactics to ensure development and deployment of the Scientific Engagement Plan (SEP)

Job Responsibilities

  • Synthesize, analyze, and communicate field insights to inform internal Amgen strategies and, in turn, keep field‐based RML team informed of evolving objectives and priorities

  • National oversight of products and pipeline molecules, under the direction of Country

  • Provide scientific and/or strategic expertise and input into the development, communication, and execution of the Scientific Engagement Plan and ensure alignment with country goals

  • Set objectives and metrics for RML accountabilities

  • Lead/represent the RML function as a primary internal contact in cross‐functional teams

  • Lead RML team to identify gaps and opportunities to drive training strategies

  • Plan and execute an annual live training meeting to optimize RML capability and skills

  • Ensure proper development and utilization of the RML resources

  • Ensure required RML documentation in ALIGN tool and develop required reports for internal stakeholders to show quantitative and qualitative metrics

  • Lead departmental activities such as budgets, resources, and staffing needs

  • Set strategic role for RMLs at congresses, medical meetings, speaker programs, advisory boards, etc.

  • Serve as an in‐house representative for RML work streams to ensure consistency and increase awareness across RML field colleagues and internal stakeholders

  • Liaise with cross‐functional teams to guide RML support for Real World Evidence and quality improvement opportunities with healthcare community (eg, providers, access enablers)

  • Continue to find innovative ways to demonstrate and advance RML value proposition

  • Help facilitate RML team to meet the goals and development objectives

  • Oversee and conduct projects with vendors including Opinion Leader (OL) mapping and benchmarking (eg, TA Landscape, RML market research/effectiveness surveys)

  • Lead, observe, coach, and mentor direct reports

  • Work with Global Learning and Performance to determine content and execution of training programs to support RMLs

  • Clearly communicate RML guidance, direction, and expectations to the field

  • Allocate resources consistent with priorities

  • Represent Amgen by participating as needed in advisory boards, congresses, and professional association meetings

Preferred Requirements

  • M.D. is a must, and physician background is preferred

  • 3 or more years of directly‐related clinical and/or scientific experience

  • Expertise in the therapeutic areas

  • 4 years of Medical Affairs experience

  • 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading

  • teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources

  • Training in clinical medicine, therapeutics, pharmacology, and/or basic sciences providing an overall understanding of the therapeutic areas

  • Ability to manage field‐based medical teams and develop and manage relationships with internal and external customers

  • Previous scientific or clinical experience prior to industry
