Amgen Medical Affairs Capabilities and Operations Senior Manager in Sydney, Australia

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Medical Director you will drive Medical Affairs Excellence through the design of new and existing metrics to support and deliver superior performance. You will work in close collaboration with ANZ, JAPAC and global stakeholders to achieve excellence through the ongoing sharing of best practices and the introduction of external benchmarks to Amgen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive culture of operational excellence through 'measure what matters' and report on deliverables

  • Develop and maintain performance metrics for Medical Affairs team, focusing on Medical Excellence strategy, goals and priority projects

  • Innovate to better serve our patients and healthcare providers

  • Collaborate locally, regionally (JAPAC) and globally to ensure appropriate deliverables and seamless execution of strategic priorities and projects

  • Support rollout of insights gathering and implementation

  • Support and coordinate medical brand planning process

  • Develops and implements digital and multichannel capabilities in alignment with Medical Excellence strategy and affiliate direction

  • Identify the resource needs for projects and collaborate with Medical Leadership Team members, Executive Medical Director(EMD), ANZ and JAPAC on allocating resources

  • Import relevant benchmarks, share best practices, enhance skills and develop organizational and individual capabilities, supporting EMD

  • Anticipate and support resolution of issues related to Medical Affairs processes and systems.

  • At all times ensure compliant way of operating in Medical Affairs

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Science or medical degree essential

  • Five or more years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry with two or more years in a leadership/people management position

  • Experience in coaching and developing scientific/technical personnel

  • Familiarity/experience within highly regulated environments

  • Project management qualifications and /or business-analytics-relevant qualifications is highly desirable
