Amgen is seeking a Specialist IS Bus Sys Analyst to join our talented Research Informatics team at its main headquarters in Thousand Oaks or San Francisco site. Research Informatics partners with Research to develop Informatics solutions to support discovery and optimization of Therapeutics.

Specialist IS Bus Sys Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Research Informatics supporting Discovery Research organization to accelerate and grow Amgen's pipeline of biopharmaceuticals. Our success in informatics is driven by our commitment to the IS Vision -

The primary responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead technical and scientific teams to create end to end Informatics solutions in support of Research activities to discover lead drug candidates

  • Identify and utilize cutting-edge technologies in the industry to meet scientific business needs

  • Partner with Research functional areas and lead discussions to identify scientific needs to improve drug discovery informatics platforms

  • Ensure effective communication between scientific area management, technical staff and vendors to analyze scientific needs and implement informatics solutions in data acquisition, integration and analysis

  • Provide technical support & training platforms for Amgen's drug discovery Research software application platform

  • Manage vendor and external business partners relationships

Basic Qualification

Doctorate Degree

OR

Master's Degree AND 3 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree AND 5 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree AND 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma/GED AND 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Life Sciences/engineering and 3 years of Information Systems experience OR Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience

  • Demonstrated track record of designing and delivering innovative IS solutions

  • 3 or more years of experience in agile software methodology

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and technical expertise to be able to communicate effectively with business and technology partners.

  • Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams

  • Expertise in Software Engineering and Design

  • Proficiency in software development languages including but not limited to Java and C#

  • Experience in the Bio-Pharmaceutical industry focusing on software development and business analysis

  • Strong experience working with agile methodology & DevOps frameworks (Docker, Jenkins, JIRA, GitLab, Maven, Sonar Cube, Airflow) with successful experience working in a collaborative team environment

  • Strong data analysis and reporting experience by leveraging analytics, visualization and database technologies (Oracle, PL SQL, Spotfire, Tableau, Python - NumPy, SciPy, Pandas)

  • Experience in Cloud (AWS, databricks platforms) & HPC (high performance computing) environments

  • Experience in developing and supporting web applications including familiarity with web technologies and frameworks (EXTJS, D3, React.js)

  • Ability to quickly learn and deploy Informatics tools to enable therapeutic discovery and optimization.

  • Expertise in translating business requirements to technical requirements and recommend solutions

  • Knowledge of or experience in Life, Physical or Computational Sciences

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
