Amgen Senior Associate Scientist - Genome Analysis Unit in South San Francisco, California

Amgen is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Associate Scientist to join the Genome Analysis Unit at our research facility in South San Francisco. The candidate will join an energetic research team responsible for the design and execution of innovative assays and the production of high quality data with the goal of developing therapeutics for grave illness.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and be able to work independently and as part of cross-disciplinary teams. Specific responsibilities include planning and performing laboratory experiments, analyzing data and communicating results. The candidate is expected to make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals of the department, present their results in both internal and external forums and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publications.

Basic qualifications

Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience


Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience

Preferred qualifications

Ph.D. and training in genetics, genomics, immunology and/or oncology

A strong background in molecular biology, cell biology and genome editing by CRISPR, TALENs, ZNFs or meganucleases of cell lines and/or primary cells

Experience with the design of, packaging and use of retroviral vectors

Ability to design and execute experiments independently

Excellent communication skills and the desire to work in a team

Computer literacy, analytical and problem-solving skills, highly organized and ability to multi-task
