What you will do

In this vital role you will works in close partnership with disciplines such as protein science, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology and regulatory to engineer promising clinical therapeutic candidates, conduct preclinical development studies, support clinical evaluation and contribute to IND and NDA filings.

The department of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism (PKDM) within Amgen is dedicated to the discovery and development of safe and effective medicines by elucidating the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetic properties of novel therapeutic drug candidates to improve their pharmacological potential.

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to design and execute bioanalytical methods for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of large molecule therapeutics by immunoassay (MSD, Gyros, ELISA) in support of both drug discovery and early development programs. This role requires an understanding of preclinical ADME and bioanalytical techniques and an individual that can work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment. This will involve working as a member of the bioanalytical group and being responsible for preparation of samples from plasma, tissues, and other biological matrices, as well as data generation, and analysis within Watson-LIMS. Other responsibilities include data interpretation and communication of results to project team representatives and electronic laboratory notebook keeping of results. Successful candidates will also have opportunities to expand his/her expertise by working on other bioanalytical assays such as flow cytometry, LC-MS, ddPCR etc. depending on his/her career development goal.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience

Or

  • Master’s degree with 3 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS or MS in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, immunology or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of protein therapeutics drug discovery and development experience in biotech.

  • industry, basic understanding of protein therapeutics pharmacokinetics.

  • Proficiency with automated liquid handling equipment (Tecan).

  • Experience with assay development, including optimization and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to grasp new concepts and execute experimental procedures with technical proficiency.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to learn and deliver results in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
